I'm always up for adding new areas, minigames, and bosses. I'm not big on bosses and whatnot myself at the moment, but I can understand and support why others are excited for it and I may eventually get into PVM myself at some point.
However, throwing in new "best" items *****-nilly is what eventually necessitated the revival of an older version of RuneScape in the first place.
Melee doesn't need any more best in slot items. Magic and Ranged both need better capes, but not too much better.
I'm up for a new cape, but not one that looks like that monstrosity, seriously guys OSRS graphics have always been modest and easy on the eyes - keep it that way.
From what I can tell, the best possible option to appeal to as many people as possible while still maintaining the integrity of OSRS is a new cape that changes between three forms - melee, magic, and ranged.
Just throwing ideas at the wall here, but:
The mage version could be essentially a god cape with a small prayer bonus and maybe a 10% damage boost or 1/8 rune-saving chance or something similar.
The ranged version could be Ava's with decent boosts to defensive stats and possibly ranged strength.
The melee version would simply be an upgrade to the Fire Cape with some sort of passive bonus that usually isn't in effect, such as having the antifire properties of the DFS (not stacking of course) to open up the ability for players to use Defenders or something against dragons. It is an upgraded Fire Cape, so I could see dragonfire protection as a possibility.
This should appease the players crying for new range/mage capes, the players who want a (slightly) better melee cape, the players who still want the Fire Cape to have BIS bonuses (since it would be a tie with the upgraded version), and the players who are against constantly adding new "best" melee items when they aren't needed.
But, most importantly, change the look of that d*mned cape. RS3 style and OSRS graphics don't mix. Seriously.
