@Mod Ronan, all the while I have no interest in Deadman Mode, I get insanely bad lagg whenever there's a notification in-game (such as your twitch advertisements) and I've tolerated them for as long as they've existed, but the 30 minute long notification for a system update is giving me the worst frame rate lagg I've ever gotten for 30 minutes straight.

So will the regular servers be going offline for all deadman mode updates? I know regular osrs servers have some tweaks with this update. Hence why the need to update. Just curious.

At present, both sets of servers use the same code. It just has a few exceptions tied in to make PvP different on the Deadman worlds. So any update would be deployed to all the worlds for a simultaneous reboot.

If we find ourselves making Deadman's game content radically different from the rest of OSRS for whatever reason, and it becomes more convenient from a technical point of view to fork the repository, updates would become independent. But we're not there now.

I've been trying to work out whether I can optimise the redrawing of the screen while these timers are running.

You'll appreciate that the extra long countdown is because we're rebooting the worlds at an unusual time, so the extra notice will be useful to players who were in the middle of something.

Out of the sake of curiosity, is there a bug where if you kill a skulled player that you gain an invisible skull? Or is there no real difference between having a skull over your head when you die and not having a skull over your head when you die?

If you have no skull and you attack a skulled player, you don't get a skull. You have a harsh death regardless if you have a skull or not. The only exception is when an NPC damages 100% of your health. So if a player attacks you and you're not skulled, and then an NPC kills you, you still have a harsh death, unless your hp restores to the maximum level.

That is kind of unfortunate for those of us that have zero interest in the deadman mode part of the game really. Being new i expect quite a few updates coming to deadman mode that will be interfering with players like me who have no interest in it at all. I understand some may like it and i'm happy for those players. I just wish that the rest of us wouldn't be inconvenienced by it to much.
