Have to say I'm also pretty disappointed with the 'skilling' aspects of this. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of it, but it really does seem there's little extra reward for doing it in the wilderness.
First off the Ents apparently give less logs than you would get even outside of the wilderness, and it's random as to which logs you get. Okay you get them noted, but I'm almost thinking with the new rune fountain it might be better to unnote them or make it so you can make noted logs into noted planks via Plank Make at the fountain (Not sure if that would be possible, but still).
Secondly the new resource area is pretty much useless content. It may just be because it's the first day, but every time I've been there, a PK'er has appeared after I've collected 2 or 3 addy ores, meaning that they lose money from killing me, and I lose money from going there, lose-lose situation for both ends of the party. What I'd suggest is alter the way the ability to see how many players are in the area works, to make it give a suggestion as to players in there based on how long the player has been in there. In other words, if a player has just entered Mandrith could say 'Yeah someone has just gone in', if it's been 10 minutes since the player entered Mandrith could say 'Someone went in around 10 minutes ago, not sure if they're still there now' and if it's been over half an hour Mandrith could say 'It's been a while since anyone has entered, who knows if there's anyone in there'. This way you get rewarded the longer you stay in there in a sense, and it means that PK'ers may have to walk around the edge to avoid wasting the 7.5k.
I haven't got the level to do the thieving, fishing, hunting or runite ores, but from what I'm hearing it's a pretty similar story on all sides - The idea is fantastic, but overall there's just not enough reward to keep people coming back compared to areas outside the wilderness.
