This has nothing to do with this blog, but can you PLEASE sort out the bots? Go the Catherby, any world, it's full of lvl 3s fishing. Is it really that hard to find out who's botting? At the end of the day every account you ban is another account they have to make which means more $$ for you - pretty logical?
They're ruining the economy, and the game - they remind me of the government...

HEY MOD MATT.

You cannot ignore all 7 very valid points I made on this topic.

If you release these updates you will have ruined OSRS.

A lot of players play this game who do not know the history of this game and what happened when the updates ruined the game in a such a fast downward spiral.

Because these players do not know the history, they might not be the one's truly most capable of watching out for and protecting this game from updates which from the oldschool aspect too much...

Beginning to resemble EOC or some RS3 game which we do not want. Right GUYS? O_o O_o
People say this before every update. If you don't like updates, go play classic. Its there for whiners that don't want updates.

Also Tu Pray, could you explain to me what exactly resembles RS3 on OSRS? Because according to your logic, no other game in the world can get an update or its trying to be like RS3. Allow me to give you some examples of what RS3 has that OSRS doesn't:

LRC
Ivy
Dual Wield weapons
QBD
Ascension
Extreme potions
*ex GWD (torva, virtus, pernix
EoC combat system
Fish flingers
Vinesweeper
OP weapons (korasi, claws, drygore)
Dungeoneering
Divination
Summoning

Just to name a few.

EDIT: added some more

Shouldnt these new items be dropped by the new wilderness bosses? Especially the tenticle one.
I mean, that seems super profitable and right now, killing the bosses in wildy isn't the most fun thing to do as all the items are constantly droppin because more and more are introduced without leaving the game. This Kraken tenticle would be perfect for that as it would constantly be in demand as it will leaving the game (like how vesta and those items did).

I feel like the questions for the poll are almost dishonestly vague. It basically requires the voter to go out of their way to read about it on the forums, and I'd bet that a big chunk of the voters won't do that. If we're actually going to be adding these unnecessarily powerful items then the poll questions should be explicitly clear as to what the items are and what they do.

Question: Should the kraken boss and the cave kraken drop the kraken tentacle as described in the New Slayer Drops developer blog?

Should be

Question: Should the kraken boss and the cave kraken drop the kraken tentacle, an add-on to the Abyssal Whip requiring 75 attack to wield and adds an additional +8 Slash & +4 Strength to it. Its special attack consumes 50% of the spec bar and it will bind an opponent for 5 seconds as well as increase your chance of poisoning them. After 10,000 hits, it consumes the whip component leaving you with the Kraken tentacle.

Also,

Question: Should the smoke devil and the smoke devil boss drop the occult necklace as described in the New Slayer Drops developer blog?

Should be

Question: Should the smoke devil and the smoke devil boss drop the occult necklace, a new magical amulet that increases your magic damage by 10% and stacks with existing boosts? It will have a magic attack of 12 and prayer bonus of 2 and will require 70 magic to wield.

*.B: A combination of the Occult Necklace & Sot* when barraging would take the max hit to 37.

I love Old School, but I'm disappointed and frustrated with the way you guys have been handling the updates and polls. I don't think you have much regard for the implications of updates such as these on the game, specifically Pking. At the very least, you could have made these items usable only against NPCs. If not, please be very clear in the poll questions so people know what they're voting for.

It really disappoints me to to see these proposed updates.

I am shocked and baffled by the speed at which new items are being proposed and released into the "Old School" game. For me the main attraction to play the 2007-era game is to actually have 2007 content -- not some divergent world line of alternative content. Old School was supposed to be a return to the gameplay elements that we all loved and missed.

With each new item release the "old school" feel continues to diminish. One could make a case for new content being released occasionally to keep people interested. However, the rate at which this new content is entering the game seems alarmingly fast. While a large majority of players may vote 'yes' to these content updates, that does not necessarily mean that they are in the best interests of the game's future health. Sure, short-term this update may be a great item-sink of whips. However, what about the long-term permanent PKing ramifications?

For instance, when Old School was first released the max hit a mage could hit with barrage was 30. If this proposed update passes, that max hit will now be 37. You can't expect the majority of people who vote in this poll to be keeping score of things like that. They see a new content poll and vote yes because it sounds good. I just think these sorts of updates need to slow way down and they should be better balanced so as not to detract from the "old school" vibe which brings us here in the first place.
