These are both very good ideas. They really surprised me.

Here are a few optional suggestions.

Kranken Tentacle.


Make it so the Kranken Tentacle
cannot be saved by the protect item prayer.
This way, IF people wanted to use the Tentacle in the wilderness they must be willing to risk 1m+. This would also give pkers an incentive to fight those who are using this powerful weapon.

Secondly, consider allowing it to be usable on other slayer items such as the trident, gmaul, and dbow. It would give these items a nice sink and raise their prices, as well as keep the Tentacle at a hefty price since it has so much use. You would just need to think of what bonuses it would give each item without making it too OP.

Lastly, instead of adding a 'str' feature, destroying the sarasword, perhaps allow the Tentacle to switch remove the lash feature, or remove the defense xp given with controlled so you only get attack and strength xp. This would be a big demand for pures, initiate pures, and berserker pures. I know a lot of people don't like pures BUT that would create a HUGE item sink without affecting the ss.

Good drop. I approve. Consider adding a few more drops since it requires such high slayer? Perhaps barrows boots and a range amulet?

But make the range amulet rarer then the others because range is pretty OP as it is. Or don't allow the range amulet to be used with void.

Voting no on both of these items, here we go with the start of OP weapons coming into the game.

Whipping 48's with max strength bonus and barraging 38-39 with the necklace and staff of dead.

I completely agree. This is honestly cringeworthy, I feel the Old School team has almost no respect for the Old School aspect of the game. Every single update involves making the game easier and bringing in more powerful items.

Also, the start of bringing OP items in the game was the re-introduction of GWD, then going further by releasing additional items like SOD and ACB. Everyone brushed off those saying that it would be a slippery slope leading to more OP items, but look where we are now. One single update doesn't ruin the game, but many combined do. What will things look like 1-2 years from now?

plz plz plz change this feature that is a horrible idea.. it shouldn't be the whip that degrades it should be the tentacle after all you aren't adding a whip to the tentacle you are adding the tentacle to the whip.


Some hard decisions must be made, no one likes to lose money but there's no other way to increase the value of abyssal whips.

It's not horrible, if you don't like it then simply don't use the content. People spend millions of gp on barrows armor repairs, yet they don't complain.

This is no different, this allows to give abyssal whips more value and gives ability to introduce new content without completely undermining older content.

You gotta remember that this is a community driven game so the updates that we get are voted in by a majority, and the slippery slope is a massive logical fallacy unless you can actually substantiate the claim that this is going to lead to stuff like korasi and nex armours.

If you really think that way about the developers behind old school though, then maybe you should speak to Mod Reach, he's been campaigning for an old school version of the game since well before EoC and I'm sure the game is in pretty safe hands with someone like him working on it.

What people want is a permanent upgrade to the whip, not an upgrade that costs millions to use.

I like something John Gotti's thread suggests. Feed the tentacle multiple whips to receive an upgraded, but non-degradable improvement.

It seems that the whip vine and necklace look like a slippery slope to a lot of people.

I would really like to see an item sink though. We need it for all items though, not just the whip.

Like bgs is only 4m.

I think you guys should think of better drops for the wilderness bosses before you move on to new content though. Right now they are dead content.

I hope that as older people whom have witnessed the effects of brazenly adding more and more OP items into the game would have come to the conclusion that in order to add we must subtract. Use the new item in combination with an existing item. My idea works along those lines. Proud 28%er

Yea, the bosses aren't really very exciting when the best drop is worth 5m and declining.

I'll defo be trying to get myself a mini chaos elemental though. :3

yes yes and yes. I also think a ring that grants immunity to binds for a few seconds with a set number of charges would be suitable, to accompany the whip bind, and the rampant freezing in the wilderness. For example, somebody skilling or boss hunting in the wilderness, has literally no chance of escape or survival if piled by pkers with freezing spells/binds/teleblock. At least give us a fighting chance of keeping our hard-earned loot, we could equip this ring and have a chance of getting away. I understand it's the wilderness, but it's a bit excessive to be frozen indefinitely and lose everything you've worked for.
