The tentacle has to encorporate the whip somehow in order to keep the whip price up. By doing this you will lose your whip sadly but the whip prices will remain relatively high with an item sink.

I proposed an idea where you don't 'lose' your whip per se, it just gets added to how powerful your new tentacle whip is.

It's not a bad idea, here's my idea:


Feed the tentacle 1 whip - becomes called Abyssal whip (T1)


+ 4 strength, + 8 Slash, 75 attack requirement. Same special.

Feed the tentacle 2 whips - becomes called Abyssal whip (T2)


+ 6 strength, + 10 Slash, 80 attack requirement. Same special.

Feed the tentacle 3 whips - becomes called Abyssal whip (T3)


+ 8 strength, +12 Slash, 85 attack requirement. Same special.


All of these whips would become permanent and wouldn't degrade, people would be happy to pay for the initial upgrade which they'd be able to keep forever however each higher tier would consume more whips which is the entire point of this update.

Each tier would slightly improve, and require higher stats to wield. The names i gave are generic, the handle of whip can have a different color for each tier.

I believe people would prefer this, over current proposal.

Thanks for answering my questions John :) I've been looking forward to this for so long! It's a shame there is no love for range in this update but other than that it's all very promising.


We've still got some wilderness bosses to give some unique drops to, I'm sure we can find something range related.

Kind of passive, I kind of wish we'd get more immediate results in regards to the range problem.

Any word on if you can increase the ranged strength on the ACB though? It should actually hit harder for as expensive as it is.


Or like any other crossbow, a new set of ammo.

Every single crossbow uses bolts up untill their own tier. Bronze crossbow > bronze bolts, rune crossbow > rune bolts.
Arma crossbow needs dragon bolts? Or perhaps armadylian bolts?

Nah, the focus shouldn't be on ammo. You'll be hard-pressed to find ammo better than Diamonds/Rubies to use at bosses, and even harder-pressed to get me to use ammo other than broads elsewhere since that's essentially free ammo that can easily hit 30s.

Unless you give me a stronger broad bolt (which is stupidly cheap), I have no reason to want to deviate from my current ammo and I don't think there's a need to address that.

It just doesn't make sense to me that a bow worth 18M with the same drop rate as a hilt doesn't actually have any max hits over a rune crossbow worth 20k.


A bronze cbow worth 200gp also has the same max hit as rune crossbow, if they'd both use the same ammo. It's how crossbows work. The only reason we use higher leveled ones is because they get more accurate and unlock new bolts.

Explain yourself, simply calling someone out doesn't automatically make you the successor.

very good idea but the strength bonus migth be a bit to op so imo
same idea but :

T1 : +2 str
T2 : +4 str
T3 : +6str rest should stay the same
and i think 2 whips per tier should be a bit better and then if someone dies with a T1 whip it'l only drop one whip instead of the 2 invested and so we get an awsome item sink so the whips stay a nice price.
not op in pking for lower lvls because of the attack lvl req.

im gona cry if they don't come like this :'(

I'm not sure how well the Kraken Tentacle will work as you're just item sinking the abyssal whip, but not the tentacle. I think both items should sink after a certain amount of uses.
Also, I don't think the stats will make a lot of people want to upgrade their whip at the cost of 1m+.
Buff the stats a bit more, sink both the tentacle and whip, and possibly give it strength straining option and then it'd be golden.

I'm not quite sure how the smoke battlestaff will work out as a lvl 93 slayer reward, but the amulet will definitely make them rewarding.
