Many moons ago, way way back in the before time, when a player wanted to train Prayer, they would kill something and bury their bones. They received 3.75 experience for doing so. Some months later, big bones were added to the game. Later yet, dragon bones. Years hence, some fancy looking tables and a weird contraption that somehow uses Nickelodean's "Slime" were added, multiplying prayer experience several times.
Was it "fair" to the people who had trained Prayer before these updates? Maybe not, but personally I don't recall many complaints. Most folks seemed to be happy just to take part in the new content. Perhaps this is an old, obscure, and off base comparison to the fairness of adding skilling pets (in regards to those who have already completed their skilling goals.) I don't have a hoard of level 99s in any version of RuneScape. I don't think I've killed any boss higher than the King Black Dragon, much less received a boss pet. Maybe I have no say because of this.
I do know, however, that when a newfangled item or monster drop is added, said drop isn't just given to people who have all 99 combat stats, just because they've already completed all their combat training, for instance. Nor is content rejected at the drawing board to keep things fair; if that were the case, nothing would ever be rare.
That being said, the skilling pet idea itself sounds neat to me! I'd even like to toss in magpies and raccoons as suggestions for Thieving pets. And even if they all were nearly impossible to attain, it would just be another small wonder to see and admire them loyally following those who brought them in to the world.

I like mod matts idea of baby yaga's magic shop as the construction pet lol.
when did he say this?
He said this joking around when the first discussion for skilling pets came up in the Q&A with the abbysal sire 2 weeks ago.
Oh
I'de love to see an agility pet (cheeta or monkey), farming pet (Ent) and maybe a nice firemaking pet (phoenix)
also I can't deny I truly believe RuneCrafters deserve a pet more than anyone so maybe a nice colourful pet to go with what they been doing for so many months (making runes)
I suggest a peacock?
Also.. (quick edit)
thanks Jagex so far we're loving the new content
can't wait till Zeah
keep it up
.
I just had a cool suggestion: every skill has a pet (if jagex need pet idea's they can get these from my forum page I don't mind if they use my idea's)
how about make them mega rarer than we're exspecting.. so people could go past 15,000,000 XP without seeing a single pet.. while also adding this to every skill..firemaking, prayer, agility and so on
melee, range and magic doesn't need to count but I would suggest them also
.

adding marrentills to your incense burners in your house is a great thing determining on you firemaking level --- But can we also have a timer in chat to warn us before the burners will go out? Kind of like stamina pots "The potion is about to expire" kind of thing???

They mean the Skills Necklace. And this change would be stupid considering that necklace is all about teleporting to all the different skilling guilds.
Definitely need Baba Yaga's chicken house as Construction Pet.
