- Randomize the rewards for the muddy chest located in the center of the lava maze to include high levelled items such as dragonstones, diamonds, and rune items. Also make the key rarer to balance this. Currently it gives junk such as mithril dagger, 50 gp, and a ruby. Who would go through the trouble of going there for that?
- Add wilderness tasks to an achievement diary. Things such as recharging prayer points in the wilderness, opening the muddy chest, or killing the chaos elemental.
- Give lava dragons a better chance at dropping visage
- Give the greater demons a 150% bonus experience gain while killing them in the wilderness. Also add better drops to them which drop more frequently than greaters not in the wilderness. (dragonstones, different rune items, etc)
- Introduce a logout timer in the wilderness. Instead of 10 seconds after combat, make it 10 seconds regardless of the player being in combat or not. It's too easy for players to immediately log out after seeing an approaching enemy.
At the end of the day you need to give people real incentives to go into the wilderness. The reason why the EP system worked is because it gave people who wouldn't otherwise enter the wilderness to go there and engage in PvP. It rivaled the best money making methods outside of the wilderness, and sometimes exceeded it. The current updates in the wilderness give almost zero incentive to go there over staying in a safe area with no risk of being killed. The incentives need to be significant, not mediocre. Mediocre incentives result in mediocre activity.
