OSRS is great because of the community. Which is why it makes me sad to see this much whining. Please don't listen to this vocal minority. There are many PVP players who will appreciate these updates.

If you see "this much whining", clearly the community is not happy with the focus. The vocal minority is the PvP community. If you look not only at this thread (as the forums are not a definitive indication, albeit a gauge for direction), but at the polls, you'll find the PvP community is in the minority. When an entire month of updates are catered to the minority (and then to the super minority of streamers and JMod's friends that will actually get into one of these 20 something spots for this giant waste of 10,000 dollars), it's no wonder the community is aggravated.

I haven't played for a year or so, and I come back just to see that Old School Runescape seems to have gone for the worse :(
Several updates coming each month, with loads of content and events coming in, and still so much complaining :O
"Only 2-3 updates this month? No x or y updates? I have waited for z days already and I still don't see my new questlines!"

Most online games only have gameplay updates once in one or two months, if even that.
If you'd look back a little bit for the updates of the past year, I think you'd see how much updates we (you) are indeed getting.

Sounds to me like a child who is complaining that there is nothing to do and everything is boring, when in fact they just can't see all the possibilities around them.

Sounds like great updates to me, to be honest.

Nice how you snipped the rest of my post away, as if irrelevant.

I've been playing this game since 2003. I've seen it in many ups, downs, meltdowns and outrages. Dramatic, huh? In my experience too many people in this generation (myself included) have a penchant for the dramatic. Especially Runescape forum-goers. I don't usually see this expert level of entitlement and petulance in other realms. Scratch that, the internets can be just awful in general..

Dramatic though I may be, I still think that much of what I'm reading on this thread is the childish sulking of a bunch of people who have trouble paying attention and feel owed their idea of what is 'fun' or 'good.'

For a thing to even be conceived of, there is usually support. There are many other veins of input for this game, big communities that don't necessarily have an overlap when it comes to these forums.

Let's go with what you say a minute...That the "PVP Minority" is also the vocal minority and the polls reflect that. Then explain to me how these updates passed the polls?

No, the whole 'we want it NAO' mentality will just serve to corrupt otherwise great upcoming content and the game in itself.

It was irrelevant to the issue I am addressing, which is the PVP-centric update and the portion of the community who would partake in it.

Can you blame people for wanting to see what they think is fun? That's why we're all here, isn't it? I don't think that saying these updates are trash makes anyone a whiner, it just makes them expressive of their opinion, which they have a right to be.

EoC, Solomons, SoF...

No, for a thing to be conceived of, there is a motive, support is non-factor.

The fact that that minority is vocal does not make it any less of a minority. All of the minorities in OSRS are vocal minorities. Further more, the Tournament was not polled, PKer specific polls fail (Chin dropping anyone?) and priority surveys have always clearly defined PvPers as a minority (The last one with "This should be a priority" falling 10 percentage points behind quests).

I'm not a big fan of the "we want it NAO" mentality myself, but I'm also not a fan of a whole month of PvP rubbish. I'd rather just a few small QoL updates than this, quite the opposite of "we want it NAO".

...that statement makes me reluctant to go on with this debate, but... The second paragraph of my first post points out that slayer and PVM are getting some of the biggest updates since inception, which is completely relevant. By your logic PVP should never be updated. Me, I prefer taking turns.

Wanting and feeling horridly entitled are two very different games...

Sure, there is a right to express entitlement. Just like I have 'my right' to express disgust towards it.

I'm here because it's already 'fun.' Overstimulated perhaps?

I was referring to the pseudo-democracy that is OSRS.

You got me there. Yet there has been PVP content polled that has passed often enough...With 'priority' we mean to say timing. I prefer the Slayer and PVM content to come later so as to have more time in development.

Aside, I have seen a fair share of QOL updates these past months. They may have been small but they were there and I appreciate the work being done on this game in general. You can't be all things to all people and with that in mind I think the OSRS team is doing a fine job considering the fare...

Pretty much this. What exactly does a quester, skiller, adventurer, minigame player, achievement hunter, social player, or ANY player besides a twitch streamer/hardcore pker or staker gain from this month of updates?

If you aren't staking/ddosing duel arena or joining this pointless tournament that wastes money that could be going towards development, don't waste your time playing this month.

Or at all seeing the way things are going. People are still splashing and using nmz to max out. Deadman mode, a completely unpolled feature one streamer asked for is wasting development time that could be going towards finished questlines or dead minigame updates. People are still spamming every bank telling you to go to their phishing website. Certain enemy drops are still broken. OSBuddy still has 50 more features that regular players could use if they were just polled in.

I think i honestly might just take off from Runescape for a while. Maybe later this year it'll improve. But atm, it's an unfinished remake that is getting the most ridiculous updates. I wish 2008 scape was around.
