I would much prefer Deadman Mode be released rather than microtransactions potentially being added to Old School RuneScape, if you are indeed going to require a separate membership for Deadman Mode accounts.

Personally, this style of play seems too prohibitive for me to enjoy so I probably won't take part. I hope you guys are able to make the right tweaks and perk some other people's interest, though. :)

Nah I'd rather just go play dayZ, this is almost as bad as EOC copying their combat from
World of Warcraft.

Okay I'm ignorant? You all are ignorant for not realizing the consequences of this update. Oh let's just throw in servers where people have to completely restart and split the community in two along with the ever so dying already pvp/ bh worlds which will now be destroyed completely. Also let's just copy exactly game mechanics from h1z1 and dayZ ( yes if you were their for the announcement of this mode they even referred to these games for the creation of the idea, psssst why do you think it's even called "deadman" mode), rather then have any originality. Let us just have clans dominate areas and therefore make people rage quit the game even more and decrease it's overall player base. These are all great ideas man keep it up! This has to be the worst suggestion for an update I've yet seen on osrs, and all of you are the ignorant ones who can't even see obvious consequences of such an update. Waste of dev time, work on something that brings together the community not seperates it (Zeah)

Dude, if you don't wanna play deadman mode no one is making you rofl

i think its cool but idk about 7 levels or levels at all forreal. especially considering the time it takes at top levels. also bank account access doesn't seem cool. maybe just some pvp world expansion? like adding fortresses or allow to take over cities such as varrock or maybe some game modes in such. i think a king of the hill mode in the cities would be cool. say one world is each city able to get taken over by a certain group and they get rewards as such. but overall I'm not a huge fan of some of these stuff.

Is this a joke? Worst idea I've ever read in my life, complete waste of time to do this when I'm sure not many would participate in this.

Minigames and skilling updates please, getting real tired of these garbage PvP and PvM updates. I cringed the entire time I read this devblog.

I love this idea! I would play it for sure. :D

It seems everything is about getting stats nowadays up to the point the end is more important than the journey, playing the game. This is a mode that switches that around.

This will open up all kinds of new gameplay too! Having clans dispense items to died members from safely guarded "bank" accounts, people going for these bank accounts even in a city, teaming up to kill a top-ranked player, running around just to see how long you'll survive.

I am just worried if a player spawning in lumbridge has time to run back to his bank and put all in his inventory or trade/sell it before the killer can get to a city to retrieve the items. :P

I think this idea has potential, it just needs some fine-tuning.

For starters, rather than talking about extra XP rate we should be talking about slightly less loss on death . 7 levels lost across the board is enough to make anyone quit immediately. Couple that with complete bank loss... You might as well just say start at level 1. That just needs optimized. 2-4 levels lost, 10-20 bank items lost maybe? Maybe less, maybe more. You just have to find the numbers that prevent overpowered people from taking control while also preventing mass rage-quitting. If that's optimized correctly you don't need bonus XP.

Another key decision to make is how safe to make towns. If those super-powered guards are roaming the streets and no PVP happens in town at all, it will allow a fairly major economy to develop. If guards are only at the gates and people within town die a lot, no one will bother with skills because they'll die too much. I think I prefer the latter, but you have to weigh the options.

Playing this mode will really just require a mentality shift on the part of the players. Accept the fact that you will probably never get over level 50 in a skill. That's how this is designed. You will be lucky if you acquire a piece of rune. I can't imagine anyone reaching level 85 slayer; whips and godswords will not exist. It's gonna be a low level slugfest with skilled players reaching and maintaining slightly higher levels than others are able to.

I do agree with the comments about DDOS attacks though. If people keep losing levels unavoidably because they're lagged out, they'll quit left and right.

And yes, don't make us pay for another account please... Thank you for developing new ideas and content for us though.

Believe me when I say this: I WANT THIS SO BADLY. I stood up and did a little happy dance and had a massive "nerdgasm" when I saw the Q&A on this topic. I am a sick, sadistic **** that would just love to dominate all of those around him in extremely brutal ways or struggle to survive in the most intense survival situations. Even though I love the idea of how it is, I think there should be some support for other players who aren't as crazy for carnage as someone like me.

-----------Teleportation System Idea----------

One thing that I believe that this should consider, though, is teleportation methods between towns. I don't think it should be exactly what RS3 has, but yet I feel that some "safer" method between the main cities could ease up a lot of the tension if you need to get to Varrock and you're the only one of your friends online.

-----------Banking System Idea----------

I feel that with the idea of the key opening up a whole player's bank is very brutal and quite wonderful, but yet I also feel that it should be eased up just a bit. My main idea for this is that every city has it's own banking system and that the items put into it will only be able to be accessed from that one sector of the map unless the player wants to pay a small to large fee (depending on distance) to have it transferred to that banking district.

To balance this and prevent players from storing their rarest items in somewhere like Burgh De Rott so that they won't even have to worry, all excess banks will fall under the Varrock bank system (or maybe just always be accessible).

I feel this will make killing other players a little more risky and balanced because of the gamble sense to it. You could win big and ruin the killed player or flop and the killed player will be let off a bit easy that one time. Losing parts of their stats is bad enough, there is no need to pour salt into the wound of losing hard work.
