Don't give in to the brats doing the DDOS. They are just online version of bullies. Been bullied in real life and learned all too quickly that giving in doesn't stop the bullies.

That is true, but they could've spent their money beforehand to prevent it before it actually became a problem.

It is a bit hard and expensive to do it. The thing is that you can quickly rent a bot net to flood a site for a few bucks over an hour or two. Best they can do is to look at the traffic logs afterwards and see if they can adjust their front end to ignore the DDOS without affecting legit members from logging in and playing.

It appears they are targeting the world servers first and then the login servers second. 1st too get you out of game and 2nd too keep you out of game. i wasnt able to login today for over 1 hour, simply unacceptable. couldnt even put an offer in the GE...i'd like to see regular updates about how jagex is dealing with ddosers. Seems like ddosers we're 100% worse when jagex posted their latest news article on how they are working too stop ddos attacks.

find the ddosers and charge them this is illegal and they should spend time in jail... dont reward them if anyone needs a reward .too much is too much.

Updates would help us. The sad thing is that it is so easy to rent a DDOS for a few bucks. Pick the style of attack(*), who to attach and for how long. Doesn't cost a lot and with all of the botted machines out there they have a huge number of machines to do their bidding. They don't even have to flood some sites with traffic, just do a request and wait until near time-out and then send the next HTTP packet and the machine will wait for the next time-out. Jagex may want to have a chat with experts and get their input on how to minimize future attacks and also chat with their ISP to see how they can help too.

Finding some of those who do offer this service is probably hard, but, I would suggest 'follow the money'. There must be a credit card processing firm that handles this unless they are using bit coins which I suspect will make tracing the money a lot harder. Even if they do find the culprits they may be in a place where it will be almost impossible to prosecute in a court.

Only if they are in a country interested in doing that. Russia, China and Iran would probably ignore requests. I use to run a FTP server at home for family before Facebook appeared and over 95% of the attacks on my server came from China. I kept complaining to the Chinese ISPs, but, they did absolutely nothing.

I just hope Jagex will look at this and ask outside experts for a bit of help for mitigating future attacks and improve their communication to us on what is happening.
