dont poll the 5 minute timer you know the 10 year olds in game who want free xp are going to vote no to it do not poll it. this game is full of lazy people

Trading also allows for free EXP.

Should trading be nerfed too?

Only reason jagex doesn't want to nerf nmz and using the community decides excuse is because NMZ is and was an extremely lucrative mini game, look how many boosters make melee accounts, and look at people who now making magic boosters for nmz Jagex company doesn't want to lose money especially after how succesful its been, it has even drawn back players who quit then came back and tried nmz then fell in love with it.

Its like jagex leaving bots untouched for 2-3 months they want to milk that mass membership.

The poll should require 75% to keep, not 75% to remove.

Indeed. I facepalmed so hard reading this dev blog.

We didn't vote for any bloody exp rates, why the hell do we need to vote to remove them?

But you inherently voted for EXP in NMZ.

I can pull the quotes from the Dev Blog for it if need be.

LOL!

These exp rates are ********. Jagex figure out the rates for yourself please, these are just embarrassingly wrong.

160k magic AFK?? 70k AFK at bandits? 100k AFK melee at NMZ? Lmao.

Question: Being able to train magic effectively in Nightmare Zone without the need to use player created runes is having a severe effect on the runecrafting skill. To allow you to keep getting the current XP and maintain the value of the runecrafting skill should you only get magic XP in Nightmare Zone if you use your own runes?

Is this question a joke? Seems like you dont know what you're talking about.

NMZ was voted on and all bugs that ensue are consequences of what was voted on. Say you voted for a president who spoke of benevolence and progress but received complete garbage. We still have the ability to impeach him by voicing concerns, but we cannot complain "we did not vote for this negative consequence, thus we should make an exception for this 'poll' and make it so only 1/3 of the HoR needs to vote to impeach the president."

The community in this case made a vote for a minigame with hidden and unspoken consequences and of course several bugs, but as stupid as it sounds, it is OUR fault. We cannot blame Jagex for releasing a service with bugs; it simply isn't possible to release the service ABSOLUTELY PERFECT the first time. Furthermore, we cannot legitimately ask for a reverse poll to cease the progression of "easyscape."

It's entirely understandable that much of the OSRS community wants to continue RS's grind aspect, but that simply isn't appealing to the other, dare I say, majority of the community anymore. To those who want the challenge to remain, it's a sign of the decline once more, but Jagex is making the correct decision in this case to allow the community to make the decision. They may be berated for being "not man enough to take responsibility for their own actions," but that's simply anger and ignorance talking.

To reiterate, we cannot ask for special circumstances because "we did not vote for it." OSRS was deemed a democracy from day 1, and the morals behind that will NEVER change.

Your comparison of Nightmare Zone to the president is very apt, and on many levels.

Like the Pres, nmz has proven to be a tremendous disappointment.

Like the pres, nmz is operating outside of the preset rules.

Like the pres, nmz has a tremendous and illogical fan base.

Unlike the pres, we can change Nightmare Zone ala carte.

The logout timer has nothing to do with Nightmare Zone, except that's the minigame which called attention to the bug. Not only should the six-hour timer be enforced, but so should the five-minute timer.

I will even do one better, and ask for the thirty-second logout we had ages ago.

I, for one, am more than sympathetic to your plight. I understand it's a bug, and I completely agree that 6 hours of AFK is ridiculous, let alone gaining exp without playing the game. Never, in all my years of playing RS, would I have imagined gaining exp while sleeping; however, the point remains - the decision lies in the community's hands, despite its moral ramifications on the integrity of OSRS's challenge aspect, and as poor as the decision of the community may be, it's in the best interest of the game for it to be polled per usual.

I, however, will have to respectfully disagree with the 30 second timer, let alone the 5 minute timer outside of NMZ, for AFK training in collection skills isn't detrimental to the game, but it will be negatively affected by the implementing of the timer.

I think the mods are handling this well and I appreciate this blog to receive feedback from the community. That being said, I think this question is worded awkwardly and/or confusingly:

Question: Should the combat XP you get in Nightmare Zone scale up so you get 100% of the XP if you have unlocked all of the bosses available for that dream?

This will reward players who have more quests unlocked. To give you some sort of comparison, if you were to use a booster account you would get about a third of the XP you currently do. Players will still be able to grind in Nightmare Zone using a booster, but those with more quests unlocked will get the best XP.

I do like the idea of having finished more quests leading to higher xp rates, so why not just make it so that the xp rates are determined by the player's quest points?

For example, say you have 123 quest points out of the maximum 246. In that case, 123 / 246 max possible quest points is 0.50 or 50% of the total quest points, so the xp you earn while playing NMZ would be 50% of what it currently is. If a player had 62 quest points, then the xp rate would be approximately 25%. Another example: 175 quest points (req for finishing Recipe of Disaster) would be around 71% of the current xp rate. That way, players who have finished many quests will still be rewarded with the high xp rates and NMZ as a 'training spot' while encouraging others to do more quests. This still retains some of the high xp rates, but only for those who have earned it through quests. It also 'nerfs' the xp rates for those who haven't really quested as much and therefore making other alternative training methods (like high alching, ankous, bursting monkeys, etc.) much more appealing. Hopefully this strikes a good balance and I think that this idea is worth considering, imo.

Mattonline asks: Afk training is becoming a massive problem, and after having a disucssion in game with some players, many think that it is ok, since you don't stop them from doing it. My questions is, will you try to put a stop to AFK training.

Mod Murray: AFK (away from keyboard) training is as much a breach of our rules as Macroing. Both methods of training allow a player to increase their levels in a way that they would not be able to do themselves and that provides them with an unfair advantage.

So, there's that.

Duly noted, and I have seen this before, several times in fact. I just have never gotten around to understanding this portion of the response: "Both methods of training allow a player to increase their levels in a way that they would not be able to do themselves and that provides them with an unfair advantage."

Under what circumstances of AFK training collecting resources are you not doing everything yourself? The game only allows for you to do so much, and I cannot accept the fact that Jagex wants me to watch my character sit motionlessly and "catch" fish. I also fail to understand the unfair advantage I have from doing homework while my character fails to catch salmon and trout or takes ages to cut a yew tree, or how this is actually detrimental to the game, but I guess it's all a matter of opinion.
