TOTAL CHAOS !

I voted for the Grand Exchange and I knew this would happen. I fail to see why people are surprised it's happening.

It'll be like this for probably a week or two, maybe more, maybe less. Prices will stabilize, and resources will be cheaper.

The reason I voted for the Grand Exchange is, as you said, the "contacting the player part." I had to deal with low-lifes such as people who haggled, scammed, or were just rude. Frankly, I got tired of that.

Resources being cheaper is not a good thing. It makes skilling even less viable gp/hr compared to combat than it already is.

I agree it's not a good thing, but to me, the pros outweight the cons when it comes to the Grand Exchange.

I disagree. I feel like the trading post solution was convenient enough and didn't come with any of the cons the GE does. It was pretty much ideal.

The GE lowers item prices which hurts pretty much every skill except for combat, it removes players from banks and resource spots all across the world, and it destroys the wealth of a lot of skill oriented players at launch. I had 20k emeralds before today. Want to know how much money I lost on those lol? A lot.

when coinshare will be out :o ?

We've not bundled CoinShare with the GE.
We'd be happy to poll it. I sense there are a few issues with how CoinShare worked before that we might need to address before going there though. Not everyone liked the way it injected so much cash into the economy.

Also, it's not a small job. You'd have to consider whether you need CoinShare NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW or whether you'd be okay with us coming back to it after other jobs. Like a resizeable mode.

Shardshare is better because it does not inject GP into the economy, but instead gives parts that can be combined into an item.
Hi.

What exactly are the buy limits right now?

Different for different items. We've had to set them conservative for now, since price manipulation is a bit more of a threat in OSRS than it was in 2007 due to the lack of a trade limit. But I expect us to raise the limits week by week as the system stabilises.

have you ever considered making it so if you buy items from the GE they become untradeable, and if you want to sell them again you have to pay a sales tax?

Couldn't this curb price manipulation by making it more likely players only buy things they intend to use themselves, while at the same time adding a money sink?

If someone does want to buy items to re-sell at a higher price, they would have to pay a fee to make the items tradeable again.

I'm concerned over what exactly would be considered price manipulation, it seems rather vague. A lot of player currently buy items and try to resell them immediately or later for a profit, would all of this be considered price manipulation now? Would flipping or merchanting be considered price manipulation? What if someone buys something then decides they no longer need the items and happens to make a profit? The definition of what is price manipulation is too vague right now.
Hi.

I really do think a price range should be used, rather than the average value or whatever it is.

I just went to purchase a mithril axe for animal magnetism, where the stated price was 6218 coins. I put in my buy offer for 5000, and ended up buying it for 200. The same happened for the holy symbol. The listed price was 12250, but thinking back to the axe i bidded at 1k, with my final price being 750.

This was obviously great, but it is clear the GE prices were not good representations of the prices of the items. By using a price range, or by replicating the trading post by showing all results, I feel discrepancies such as this can be avoided.

When is there a version of Runescape coming without the Grand Exchange?
Lets say really oldschool.
I am a oldschool man, used to play runescape before there was a GE.

I think i am fair to say that i dont see the grand exchange as an upgrade to the actual game as it is today and i rather play a version without one.

This, I'd like a true old school server with no Grand Exchange and other junk updates like that.

Then join a private server. The majority voted for the Grand Exchange so that is what happened.

No, that is not what happened. The GE failed the first time around. Jagex just drove away most of the people who opposed it by failing to properly maintain the game and then polled it again lol.

In case you didn't already notice, the population for Old School has been steadily increasing. So has the amount of people participating in polls. Clearly those who opposed it changed their minds, because they haven't driven away very many players.
