1. Make it so that the GE doesn't formulate, price tag, or set prices (GE values) on items. By doing so, the price can't be easily manipulated, and players won't be coerced into buying or selling at the manipulated "market price" all the time. Also, players will maintain a great degree of control over prices rather than the system telling them a formulated buying or selling price. Instead, the GE or price checker should only provide a price range on an item. That would also eliminate the dreaded hassle of buying or selling at 5% over or under the market price. For example, the price of mind runes would show 3-5 GP instead of 4 GP.
2. Like the TP, the GE should show candidate offers from other players so that players can ultimately decide on the best offer rather than going gung-ho on a totally automated system.
3. Instead of a totally automated system, the GE should have a "Buy from Player X" and "Sell to Player X" option. Afterwards, the money or items can be collected from the collection box or the GE.
4. If players need to price an item, it should be done in the same manner as the GE. It should only include a price range (the minimum and maximum price) without giving an absolute value in a similar fashion as OS Buddy's price checker.
5. The only time the mean price, absolute value, or GE value of an item should be implemented is with Coin Share and Loot Share. Otherwise, buying and selling items should be based on a price range and players' willingness.
6. In the event of a newly-released item, again, no GE-suggested price or market value should be given. It should be entirely up to the players to determine the price range as will all items.
7. Lastly, make the GE accessible and available in every bank rather than in just one location. People claim the GE is convenient, but nothing is convenient about being limited to trading in one spot whereas the TP was in all banks.
The problem is that you (Jagex) can't learn to leave well enough alone. If you create the G.E. it'll take away vital player interaction that OSRS actually has. Moving it to Falador won't fix the the problem and neither moving it to trade posts. LEAVE OSRS ALONE we don't want any stupid graphical updates we want the game we played when we were younger remember that

Jagex
didn't

Unfortunately if the GE does pass I foresee a good chunk of players (those who strongly oppose the GE, for their own individual reasons) to flock back to the private server communities which OSRS was originally designed to compete with/detract from. OSRS is going to bleed it's own life blood by doing this...
I gathered a list of what I think are pros and cons.
Pros-
1. can obtain your items immediately
2. No more need to stand around saying buying/selling
3. easier for people to buy and sell more obscure items, such as things hunter related
Cons-
1. could ruin the effect for people playing for nostalgic purposes
2. Prices for items could drop due to being easier to obtain
3. There's a very large number of people who appear to be strongly against the ge, who might quit if it's released
Perhaps after the GE is in the game, some solutions to 'player discontent' might be as follows: Things that could be added into the game that would retain that 'old school' flavor (for those that like that style of game play):
1. Have brand new quests (perhaps on the new continent) where you have to get all the resources
yourself
, and the rewards would be
untradable
.
2. Have brand new resources in the game (perhaps from the new continent), that can ONLY be traded via player to player. I don't know what lore might account for this...but here's an idea:
Ore #9 from continent X can only keep its integrity in the area surrounding the new continent. If you try to take it off the continent, it 'turns to dust' (or might even explode-damaging you severely). There would be no grand exchange outlets on the new continent, so basically the resource would only be useful ON that continent.
This Ore when smelted would create weapons that could only be used on this new continent also. These weapons would be ultra powerful against monsters on the continent. So this ore would provide a great money maker (and players would be forced to trade it via player to player).
Idk what the lore would be that would not allow the grand exchange to be found on the continent, but I'm sure I could think of something.

The only thing I want to say despite my feelings of everything mentioned is that the vote concerning ultimate ironmen is passing. This was a big pole where many voters came in from streamers advertising and rs3. Many of them may not have understood the weight of this question as noting and un-noting items is a huge part of being an ultimate.
"Hmmm... Right. Then they should have had a backup safety valve to that backup safety valve!"
