I think people are leaning towards the GE because the first solution, the trading post, didn't work for everyone.

I'm all for the compromise. I'm part of the minority that doesn't want GE for a simple reason: it causes the idea of "negotiating" and "bartering" to become obsolete, which occur through manual trading. The mentality of having to manually trade with someone eventually dies because the GE becomes a giant coin exchange. You put in item, get money out. You put in money, you get item out. Not everyone will trade with just money. I'm part of the people that will accept items if they equal around what I originally wanted in the first place. On top of that, with everyone competing against each other for an item in the GE, it's hard to buy for a "negotiated price" since you don't even know who the seller is.

When GE originally came out in 2007, I thought it included the option to barter/negotiate. It did not.

However, the trading post is closer to what I originally envisioned. With a few adjustments, it can become a good compromise between the "lazy people" and "people who want player interaction," or in my case, the ability to barter/negotiate. Go for the compromise, and I think we can all make this work the way people want it to.

For me specifically, no offline trading. I think you should be able to trade through the trading post, though, without having to be physically adjacent to each other. You can be near a trading post to complete the transaction. Being in different worlds but allowing this to happen also works for me. Just no "central GE hub" and a "giant coin exchange."

Read all 69 pages of posts that's a first for me lol. Then I decided what my choice would be if/when all this is polled.

Then I re-read Mod Ronan's post at the very beginning of this thread:
The initial
launch of the Grand Exchange
was marked by
MASSIVE
fluctuations in item prices as players adjusted to the new levels of supply and demand, and as players dumped the junk from their banks. New strategies evolved for making fast profits from the market, or for making the official guide prices trend upwards or downwards. It was also
FAR MORE
convenient for gold-farming bots to turn their botted items into fast cash.

Yup I remember that and it sucked really bad for 1-2 yrs. Did it suck for anyone else?

Anyway, I had already made my personal choice to vote on a future poll.

We just got the Trading Post, we should improve it!
--Send trade requests through the Trading Post. -
YES

--Automatic trading. -
NO

--Posting buy offers. -
YES
, you post your buy, someone trades you through the TP, is he a fake seller? Just wait 10 seconds, if he is stalling, close the trade window.
--Viewing the trade post from elsewhere. -
YES
, but to "view" ONLY.
--Don't list offers from people with private off -
YES
, I'm surprised this wasn't done with the launch of the Trading Post, it's only common sense.
--Quick hop -
YES
, taking into account PK worlds.
--Info tracking -
NO
, for now. On one hand I certainly like knowing if I'm overpaying for something but for me overpaying a small amount is trivial. On the other hand info tracking has proven to help price manipulators.

Lastly, who said we couldn't have coinshare or lootshare without GE? WE DON'T! Coinshare and lootshare can be done without a GE, does Jagex not have the technology to do this, I mean come on, it's not 2004 anymore!

NOOOOO GEEEEEEE!!

Jagex stated multiple times when 07 came out that there would
NEVER be a GE
implemented in game. I don't care if
90%
of the community wanted it back, they said never again. What ever happened to credibility? This would lose all of the remaining credibility that they have left, which is almost non existent.

they also stated ors servers would not get many updates and just watch out for bots/fix glitchers/keep servers running

Wow everyone who is for the GE, are all post 2008 accounts. Jagex don't kill the game again. With a GE skilling supplies become worthless, bots can easily dump supplies and we are headed down the same road as easyscape. Trading isn't hard as it is using zybez you can get anything and everything in less then 10 minutes, if it's a more obscure or less traded item maybe 30, but it is usually easier to get it yourself.

NO GE

Quite wrong in my case, my current account may be very young, but I've actually been playing RS off and on since classic, back in 2001, and i am definitely pro GE.

i hate having to run all over the place and spend an hour tracking down sellers that are online and responding every time i need to buy something. when i'm selling something i hate having to constantly stop what i'm doing and rush to v west just to make 1k profit after my tele tab, when i could be training.

All these people saying ge is bad and that rs3 stuff should stay in rs3. This is osrs aka 2007 scape. The ge came out in 2007 so i think its fair we get a ge to help fit the 2007 style of this game like its supposed to be. If u don't want a ge go play rs classic because people saying to go play rs3 if they want a ge is practically the same thing.

I AM SO SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING THIS IS 2007-SCAPE!

+
OSRS
was created because of the evolution of combat update to combat, its only from 2007 and not 2009 because 2007 was the cleanest save they had of the game with minimal glitches and bugs they would have to repair, with that said osrs is about
SPECIAL ATTACKS
instead of adreneline and has nothing to do with "nostalgia of 2007" idk who started this... but its ridiculous.
