I feel that a lot of people are happy with the Zybez website (although it is not affiliated with Jagex). But logging on while you are in game causes a lot of lag. If the trading post could open a more similar screen to the way Zybez posts offers for buying and selling that system could be great. My issue with the trading post is that there is no way to specify whether of not people should PM you or if you only use Clan Chat. I never have my PM set to on because there are a good number of people I don't want to be able to message me. So I use my Clan Chat as more of a merchant chat where people can join to buy or sell me something. On **bez there is an option to select where you specify PM or CC. Also there is a space where you can leave a note about the item you are buying or selling. I like that feature as well. It helps to communicate with players before they contact you. Currently if I try to use the trading post no one will contact be because they just assume I have my chat "off" or I logged out. When really my clan chat is open for trading but my private chat is set to "friends". I don't think many people think to check the clan chat because PM is so commonly used.

I absolutely DO NOT want a Grand Exchange. I quit very soon after that update originally and only came back when I received an email that Jagex was bringing back a Pre-GE version of Runescape. The Runescape I loved. Because as much as I the GE made things more convenient, it RUINED Runescape. It took away a players control as to how they want to buy or sell things. No one even stood in banks anymore. I couldn't receive item offers for my goods anymore. The were no more "bank sales". And I feel it really took away the SPIRIT of the Runescape Community. People didn't interact as much as they used to through buying and selling and it was a very different game.

Please take into consideration that if a GE is released even though it may make many players happy. It may also cost OSRS many players as well.

Spot on, Nordaf. The trouble is in order for the GE to be as convenient as they are asking, like in RS3 where you can insta-buy all your quest items before heading out...
it has to first become a place where everyone dumps all their garbage.

I have some low-level stuff in my bank that I will NEVER use. I don't care; my bank is well organized and the stuff isn't in my way. Every so often some noob in a bank happens to be needing a tool or a piece of low-level armour, and if he's asking politely it's often something I happen to have and don't mind sharing.

In RS3 I cleared that junk out of my bank long ago, into the dump it went, and auto-distributed itself to noobs across the worlds, noobs who have never even heard of places like Loui's Legs. It's a completely different game when there's a GE. It's not the EoC that made it so different.

Same to you m8! And I don't just agree because we seem to want the same thing. But that's an excellent point. It's a really cool feeling when I happen to end up trading for some obscure or even noobish item, either buying or selling. It seems so clear that the GE KILLS the spirit of the game. I mean, why travel around when every single thing you need is in one place.

maybe you are mixing up your feelings about the GE and free trade. taking away free trade was the down fall of RS, NOT the GE

the GE would be a great addition to the game

For me the grand exchange wouldn't be a deal breaker and I wouldn't quit like some are saying. However.. I don't like the idea of implementing the GE into old school. I think that if it was added, it would be a big step in the direction towards a (lets be honest) negative spiral of updates that led to most of the fan base leaving the game. Also, is it really that hard to get hold of items?.. With the trading post, it's really not that hard or time consuming, to just pm somebody and say "Can I buy this from you?" and then hop worlds.. Also, people that are saying it takes ages to sell items are obviously not making good use of the trading post. If you just stand there and hope someone comes along, of course it will take a while to find a buyer. But if you use the trading post, you should have people coming to you! It's basically the same concept as The 'Electronic BAY' really, and that's arguably the most popular trade advertising site in the world.. I just think people are simply too lazy to swap world and retype their credentials. So, I would suggest that Jagex implement the following to both preserve the old school aspect and satisfy the lazy people;

1. In the trading post, implement an option to join someone's world that is advertising a sale. Perhaps even add an option where both seller and buyer can teleport to an agreed location (for 5k each or something, so as to not ruin tele tab prices)
2. Show when a person is offline OR unlist their advert whilst they are.

Bringing the GE back would condense most of the players on the game into one location. This would in my opinion ruin the old school feel and have an adverse effect on the social aspects of the game. People may not talk much when trading, but when I for instance am skilling in a bank I like a chat with the person next to me :)

If you read all of this I thank you, and I hope you agree with some of my thoughts.

As many other players have said, Grand Exchange is not the best idea. At the moment I prefer sticking with Zybez. The Zybez website allowed for a simple method of trading all the information is on one page. Rather than having to click specific buttons on the trading post to "sell" or to look for an item (usually used to check the price of an item so you can sell it, which is more work.) The zybez website also allowed for both selling and buying offers. It also comes along with a beautiful graph of the item's price over the months. I use this graph A LOT. Not only that, but as we all know, the zybez screen is way bigger than our little trading post screen. This doesn't bother me when playing the game of course, but when it comes to the trading post, I don't like scrolling down too much. I would LOVE the trading post to come with all features **bez has. Just a couple tweaks here and there! Although the grand exchange is a complete no!

I hope you take my ideas into consideration to make trading post the best!
