Firstly, it's so funny reading the rage from people who splash l0l all I can say is rip .

Secondly those who are hurt in the bumbum about them fixing this without a poll, think of the future of the game. What is the point in EVERYONE having high magic then a new spell comes out that's good in pvp, but everyone will be using it...yes, including your opponents...it ruins any chance of new end game content for magic being rare and only available to those who have invested a lot of money/time in the skill. If jagex offered everyone 100m coins, ofcourse majority would vote yes...but does that mean it's the best thing for the game? NO. So don't be so silly and stfu and make money and go high alch like normal people. Surprised guthans wasn't fixed...400k def/hp xp whilst sleeping is worse than 83k magic imo lol...

Afk guthans = 2day Ban everyone!

I recieved a ban the other day for it.

Jagex can you please clarify that it is against the rules to afk guthans and you can receive a 2 day ban.

I was un aware that you could be banned for this.

If a mod can clear this up that would be great.

Jagex, good updates overall, even though i lose 5 million on my smoke battlestaff, there are downsides as well. You have yet to fix afk splash in PVP WORLDS, commission staking will simply move to another site where people will congregate to do deals. I dont agree with trying to regulate the staking thing. It's simply impossible to do without ruining your game in the past, like free trade limits. As a person who has played since 01' on various accounts, I commend you taking a stance on these things. However, if you're going to update something this big, make a poll about HOW YOUR GOING to implement it. Just my 2c, and thank god i afked to 86 before this, I KNEW IT WAS COMING. LOL

30 minutes is still too long before log out for those dirty afkers.
Make it 10 minutes, in-line with the death timer.



And the last thing, guthans afking is more damaging than afk splashing because it devalues 4 skills at once.

If mage splashing makes updates to magic redundant, what does that logic say to you about updates to Attack, Strength, Defense, and Hit Points?

Think about it, really hard.

Logic dictates that if one type of combat afking can harm the game, then you have to realize any combat afking other than magic has the exact same effect.


Step up and deal with what you know is harming the game.

If people didn't have to start from scratch again then I can understand your post. But for someone like me that has max combat in EoC and now I'm being forced to do it again? No. Splashing was a mistake. AFking with guthans however is acceptable because it's not only terrible experience per hour compared to actual training, but also costs a fortune for repairs.

Jagen. Are you crazy? AFK guthans is 5-6 times the exp of splashing. I could burst and get tons of magic exp. AFK GUTHANS is on par with any melee training I can think of and in fact way more efficient than splashing.
not to mention the pure ess you can buy with points about paya for the cost of guthans repair.

I spash, swap coins over, commision stake, (2m down...)**** with untradable items, and now. You kinda nerfed me. Spashin* is over, but I can deal with that, for the very selfish reason of having already finished my 64-70 magic spashin* spree. Commision staking? Now I won't be able to lose/gain the bet i was going to make once i got 2m cash... "Go murcuz go!" (By the way where the heck is the commision staking fourm??? I tried to find it to name some ranks but nope... Well, Murcuz, PS, Area51, and Skiee***** with untradable items? thank God you didnt nerf that. I dont know what happens when i die in lvl 20+ wilderness with iban staff/ancient book. Hopefuly you give us a 10 minute timer to get back ;)
So yeah not so happy with it... I think you could make a replacement magic training method for magic, maybe a minigame or something. In game gambling house would be amusing, officially supported NPC's that swap coins, make a 10 minute timer to get back to your untradable items... I dunno.

Doubt you got banned for afking. I bet you broke a different rule.

Two things spring to mind trawling through everyone's comments:

1. Its interesting how many people supporting the move the OS team made to get rid of AFK splashing are also flagrantly decrying the democratic nature and thrust of the polling system, and even the ones not writing things like "I lick the tears of splashers/go further than this/do what needs to be done" are worryingly quick to dismiss all of their democratic impulses in favour of what they personally want to see happen. Just be sure that when this happens in future, regarding an update YOU didn't want implemented, YOU will have played a big role in not joining people criticising the seeming ignorance of Jagex to the polling system.

And to those people saying "Oh well its obviously the commission stakers buying votes" on the basis of hearsay, no matter who it is from, without being directly shown sources of the information- its YOUR job to show that your assertion is correct, not for other people to prove otherwise.

2. "Devaluing the magic skill"
The Mod who posted this noted that the justification for ignoring the poll had already been provided. I think I saw a very valid point raised by someone else, contending that 4 skills were devalued by AFK NMZ'ing, and I don't think you've provided a good enough justification in any case. I think you've shown a bit of contempt for your players there; why ask the question if you knew what you were going to do anyway? If you still contend the basis for removing splashing was the devaluing of the magic skill, why wasn't this provided as the basis for the poll? Why didn't you submit your case? Then the players could have clearly made their voice heard even further - "we don't care". I think this indifference to the devaluing of the poll is the basis of the result. In not providing it before/at the time of the poll you've allowed yourselves to bring it out now and undermine the polling process.

Pretty sure you can still splash in pvp, probably clan wars too. Having afking in the game is important if you ever want new players on 07. If I was to ask a friend to restart an account who quit and they got told you can't afk anything, nobody would come back.
