I don't much like the drops this thing gives.
The scale idea is kind of weird.
Snakes have two main features to work with: fangs and hide.
Why not make a new '
dagger/defender fang
' combination? It would be non-degradable, poisonous (not 'venomous'), and hit with the weapon dagger and do some damage whenever your opponent tries to hit you based on your melee stats. You could get the main weapon to be more powerful than the dragon dagger and the off-hand to be the same as the rune defender. It's not recoil but basically a counter move; we don't have that yet.
With the '
rough snake hide
' you could create some fantastic new armor that isn't OP. Maybe make it slayer specific amour? If you wear it during a slayer task it gives you an effect where you're basically using thick-skin with the same stats as black *'hide.
You can give the snake the drop 'snake eggs' which can be used to make a cake that boosts your slayer as much a wild-pie. We don't really need any new food though...
Maybe include a snake-skull helm? A magic based helm with prayer bonus?
The staff with the snake part is a really awkward combination of items. I don't understand it. I feel like one of the things that made the game great back in the day was the storytelling part of it. Basically if this was a D&D game, why the hell would the snake drop something totally unrelated to the staff of the dead that can be used on it? I kind of understand the Kraken tentacle but this is a bit of a stretch.
