November - The Month Ahead

November is here and it is going to be an interesting month. We'll be seeing more news on the trading post, continent, achievement diaries and Christmas over the course of the month ahead.

Trading post

Throughout November the development of the trading post will be continuing and towards the end of November we will hopefully be able to bring you some more in-depth information on the progression of the project.

The current outline we have for the trading post is as follows:

Selling items


• 1. Player goes to a trading post
  
• 2. Player opens the interface
  
• 3. Player selects items from their inventory that they wish to sell
  
• 4. Player selects the quantity that he wishes to sell
  
• 5. Player selects the price at which they would like to sell all of the items for
  
• 6. Player confirms the trade and the post is made

Buying items


• 1. Player goes to a trading post
  
• 2. Player searches for the item they want to buy
  
• 3. Player sorts the selection to their liking by seller name, quantity, overall price or price per item
  
• 4. Player identifies the trade he wishes to purchase
  
• 5. Player PMs seller to arrange a trade

This system is what was voted for back in April and is what the trading post will start out as. Once the Old School community have had a chance to use the trading post and to understand exactly what value it brings to the game we will start the discussion of whether or not the trading post provides the most value it can.

Polling Zeah - The new continent

To kick off November in a big way, this Thursday we will be opening up a poll with several big questions. One of these questions will be asking the community whether or not they want to see Zeah, the new continent, introduced into Old School.


Since the continent was first announced, the possibility of an area that is a completely blank canvas has really captured the imagination of Old School players. The Old School community has been incredibly enthusiastic with what has been presented of Zeah so far.

Zeah is an enormous land mass to the west of Isafdar. It is roughly the size of the area between Prifddinas and Falador on the existing map and will be packed with brand new content for Old School.

This Thursday we will be opening the poll where you can decide whether or not you want to see Zeah make it into Old School. You can get much more information about the continent in the Zeah developer blog that we posted late last week. Make sure to give it a read so you know what you're voting for on Thursday!

Polling achievement diaries

Also included in this Thursday's poll is a huge expansion for achievement diaries. For quite some time we have talked about the possibility of additional diaries for other areas of the game and in this poll will be offering just that.

We are looking to release 10 new diaries for Old School covering the following areas:

  Falador ( )
  Fremennik ( )
  Kandarin ( )
  Kharidian Desert ( )
  Lumbridge & Draynor ( )
  The Western diary ( )
  Morytania ( )
  Varrock ( )
  Wilderness ( )

We will be offering elite diaries as an option to come along with this expansion, creating a set of challenges that only the top-tier of Old School players would be able to take on. They would truly give you something to strive for.

Considering how much the community appear to love the idea of achievement diaries, we would also like to offer an addition to the system that would allow you to re-play a set of achievement diary challenges every day in order to get small, temporary advantages in the relevant area. These advantages would not be experienced based.

We put up an achievement diaries developer blog last Friday, make sure to check it out so you can decide whether or not you want to see the expansion introduced into Old School.

Christmas event - Diango's workshop


With this year's Halloween event being one of the most memorable events in RuneScape history we felt that it would be fitting to revive one of a similar standard for Christmas: Diango's workshop.

Later on in November we will be polling the workshop event to see whether the community want to re-live their 2005 memories or see what the Old School team can whip up.

Well of Goodwill

The Well of Goodwill will be available in Old School throughout the whole of November, offering you an opportunity to dump your coins and items in to help donate to charity.

We will be hosting a live stream on Wednesday to get the charitable spirit of the Old School community pumping. We are going to be doubling up our efforts to do some good by clearing out the bots and giving their, ehem, "hard earned" coins to some excellent charities.
