Death Mechanics Clarification

There has been some confusion regarding the recent changes to death mechanics in Old School, we would like to clear any confusion up.

General death mechanics
When you die your items will be visible to only you for 1 minute. After 1 minute they will be visible to all players for 29 minutes before disappearing.

Corporeal Beast's cave
Corporeal Beast's cave is an exception to the general death mechanics.

In the Corporeal Beast's cave you will have 2 minutes to return to your items after which they will disappear. At no point will any other players be able to see your items if you die in the same room as the Corporeal Beast.

Player vs player death mechanics
Player vs player death mechanics have gone completely unchanged. They are as they have always been.

And in no way does this protect a player. And you have not even mentioned untradables such as void gear that is lost. I responded to you in another topic but think this applies here so here it is:

I do not understand at all this reasoning to clinging to an old death mechanic. Especially in light of all the network problems that you guys have said will take a while to fix. Clearly what you are trying with these timers are not helping very much at all. Especially if you want to do any sort of combat.

You can be in a safe place ranging dragons run out to grab a drop the dragon spawns while your lagging you just stand there being attacked. Then the game decides to crash so now your at the loading screen. You log in and boom your in lumby.

This situation the player is not at fault yet who gets punished? The player. And why are they punished? Because you guys wish to keep an old death mechanic that no other game uses. They do not use this type of crap death mechanic for these very reasons.

Its like people know not to stick their hands in a fire. Yet jagex does one better and jumps right in head first then wonder why they are burnt.

If items are not appearing for anyone at Corp, what's the point making the despawn death timer 2minutes?? No1 is gaining from it and if you dc it takes 1minute before you can login again.

Make it 5-30minutes inside of corp cave aswell, looking like you don't care about everyone losing fighter hats/torso/fcapes/void @ corp.

Besides that what is the point of a combat level requirement when it was only there to stop looters but no need of it as no loot can be looted from there.

I just think 2minutes is redic, considering every time you dc you get the 'please wait 60seconds, you're a **** and I'm making you lose 60% of your pick-up time'

I posted that qfc real quick before responding to you but in there Mod reach is quoted as explaining they can not make the time more then 2 minutes to pick up your items. The topic is worth a read and worth putting your two cents in as well as every one else you know. We need real solutions to these problems now not later.

Or make the counter stop ticking once you're logged out and resume once logged in again. Gives players a chance to walk away and let the servers rebound first.

The commands we use to drop items have a hardcoded timer in the engine that we can't manipulate beyond two minutes. In order to get around this and extend the timer we have to use different commands and manually ensure they respect the usual restrictions and conditions of death.

This isn't difficult to do, as we've proved, but the commands do not fully respect the player who dropped the items. As far as the engine is concerned, so long as the game world is online and active, if there are items on the floor, it will continue to count down the timer by the required amount before displaying the items to everybody or deleting them.

The quote i was talking about.
