The 2 minutes is seriously worse for corp. Disconnecting is the main reason why people die there and 2 minutes many times is not enough time to get back. People are losing things their friends could have just giving back to them. Its stupid, better off with the looters....

Besides that what is the point of a combat level requirement when it was only there to stop looters but no need of it as no loot can be looted from there.

^^This^^ If you want to stop looters, this death mechanic does that. Not that it fixes the issue with disconnects, but then I guess you can't have everything. And I don't get what's the big deal about stopping looters. You don't want looting, poll gravestones.

But back to the main point. What's with the combat requirement for corp already? If I want to take my lvl 3 skiller bossing, why do you care? Lvl 126 players can and will loot if the guy next to them dies at corp. What difference does it make who gets the loot?

They said another reason for adding it was because of Corp's healing. The more people in the room, the more he's able to heal. They didn't want a ton of people in there with no intention of killing the boss. But these are temporary changes anyhow.

Huh, didn't know that. Seems like the right fix would be to only include people actually fighting when you figure the healing rate.

Little tip for everyone complaining about losing their stuff, if you don't want to lose it then don't bring it. I've lost 30m+ due to these server dc's but I risked it by bringing it out, nothing I can do about that. They are trying to fix the problem, complaining constantly will only waste their time reading the comments, which will prolong the server dc's being fixed.

I hope the Mods read this, this could be the solution.

From the moment you die, there should be a "thing/ingame program" that recognizes if you are disconnected or not. I'm sure there are many ways how to detect that, a simple one is just to track any activity.. Clicking, moving, etc. Because if you are dced you can't do anything obviously.

From the moment you are back online, THEN should the timer start..

So the timer will only be running if you are online.

Example:

You are killing the Beast
You got disconnected
(in the meanwhile you died)
from the moment you are dead, the "program" should recognize if you are active or not
if you are unactive the timer won't start

meanwhile you are trying to log back in
the moment you are logged back in
*AM timer starts..
(time should be visible on screen)

What if you get disconnected again?
Timer stops, you get back online.. starts again..

I hope this help guys.

Let me know what you guys think (incl Mods).

FYI the ones reading here are not the ones fixing the servers there are devs that make in game content (same devs posting here) and those who work on the servers infrastructure (those rarely post here). Entirely different teams that do different jobs.

I have played this game on multiple accounts over many years going as far back as 2004. I have never had a problem with the death mechanics. I've always considered that if you want bring your valuables and risk them for a chance at easier kills and amazing loot its fair because follows a FAIR risk/reward ratio.

Runescape delivered on that fair ratio up until now. I understand that the network issues are a difficult problem to say the least but the changes made to the current death mechanics offer little merit. The general 30min timer is a joke; no one needs that much time to get their stuff back. The Corporeal Beast death mechanics are even worse; by the time someone logs in from the disconnect their items are all gone. I don't mind losing my hard earned full void because of my mistakes, but I have yet to do so. I have lost a negligible amount of items through out the years because of my incompetence. It seems like instead of addressing the Connection issue in a permanent manner a simple quick fix has been put in place.

Disconnection problems have always been an issue with Runescape and many people have lost their hard earned items time and time again. It is unfair to the Runescape Community that you as a company implement patchwork fixes to a major problem! The community would like the network issues to be fixed right now but I am sure we all realize its not that simple. The development team can, however fix the death mechanics in a reasonable manner that removes the effects of the disconnects.

Many of my friends have stopped playing, others have quit. I find myself reluctantly logging in only to fish or afk train. This game has been amazing and I love playing it. That being said if I cannot do the things I like in this game why should I play it? I urge Jagex to find permanent solution on death mechanics in OSRS. (Aside from that you guys are doing great! Keep up the good work)

A few ideas on possible fixes that I have include a timer that starts when you log in or perhaps finding a way to identify how the player died and if it is a network issue on the server side and adding a guy like "Per*u"(in edge) so we can at least buy our untradeables back for a small or even a large fee.(only if it is the result of a dc not incompetence or bad luck)
