I'm loving the update so far, and it gave me a reason to play OSRS.

There is a little thing that annoys me, and that's the fact you can see what other players drop.

Sometimes you forget that you can't just pick up stuff other people drop, or you actually don't know what to pick up because your items are in the same stack as another player's items. You then have to right-click and try all the different items.

Suggestion to the new account issue:
It bugs me I had to create a new account, but I guess you cannot really do anything about severe engine limitations. However, what if you got a bit creative?

Maybe internally, a "character selection screen" is really just an "account selection screen". The engine basically creates a new user account, but with a flag that it is a character, and not a login account.

Perhaps my idea is silly, but it made sense in my head.

Would appreciate a reply, Ash. I'm curious what you think about this.

hi i was wondering if all the work i put into my previous iron man is now gone to waste? i put in a lot of time getting things like 70 agilty and do a ton and a ton of the starter quets, with this mode noone will ever believe im an iron man so the account is essentially a waste? is there no way to make my account(who has never traded anyone or broken an iron man rule) become an iron man?

Most things are great except for the iron man armour.
Why should iron men get unique armour, all they've done is created an account and stated they'll play on iron man - even though they can revert back at any point.
Also the armour has the same stats are iron so iron men won't have to bother with mining and smithing for a while, defeating the point of low level iron men.

The only thing I'd consider "good" about this update is the fresh highscores, as the current osrs ones are now dominated by certain players. But the iron man highscores will be dominated within a few months & won't be fresh anymore. You should have looked into adding highscore challenges like rs3 has.

The rest of the update seems a bit pointless, current iron men lose their progress if they want to be "official".

reading what lewis just said did confirm to me that i couldn't revert my account to make it an "official" iron man. i'm torn what to do, either quit all together or restart an iron man and spend the next 4 months doing exactly what i've been grinding. I was so close to the point where my iron man was going to be fun and now im just torn. this could be the final straw to my runescape career, not because of the idea of the update just due to me having to restart

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Players started making Iron Man accounts when there wasn't even any official form of recognition, just because they felt like it.

You're correct. Iron Men cannot pick up other player's drops.

In the case you described, some player got the loot but left it on the ground. After a while, the items become visible to all players, as usual. If an Iron Man came along, they'd see those items too, but they'd be prevented from picking them up or telegrabbing them, since the items were dropped for a different player.

Yeah, we could change that. It wouldn't be hard. However, for the reason you've just given, I'm inclined to leave this alone for now.

... but given how many players don't want to see OSRS filling up with titles or chat-icons, we've chosen not to enable that feature for now.

i think ultimate iron man mode is amazing but i dont like the idea to create another account, because if i knew that iron man mode would exist, might i waited to be an iron man
While it might be nice to put your "main" character on hold, and create an Iron Man alternate account on the same subscription and email address, that's not something we've been able to offer.

Stellar Dawn tried something like that - in fact it was more like having a stable of characters associated with your one account - but they didn't have 14 years of legacy systems and a mammoth saved-game database to convert. RuneScape does.

Yes, that can be annoying. We currently don't have the facility in the '07 engine to control what items players can/can't see based on their Iron Man status.

Also, while people are still getting used to Iron Man mode, it might be clearer for the item to be visible, so you can get a message explaining why you can't take it. If the item didn't show at all, you might well be wondering where it is, and whether it'll become visible if you wait long enough.

That'll stop being an issue after a while, since Iron Men will be more accustomed to how it works, so if we ever get the engine support to make the items invisible to Iron Men, we'd do it.

How do you use the same account with OSRS and RS3? Is this because the games are completely seperated?

What if you just, like, added a suffix to the e-mails, with a special symbol. f.ex: "myemail@runemail(dot)net#1".
