I am a bit suspicious to hear that you (RuneScape) are looking forward to "improve" the game. While I hope the oldschool game-spirit wouldn't be ruined!
Trading is typical for oldschool RuneScape, ruin it with a Grand Exchange (or something like it) would be a big disappointment! If you want all those updates, play RS3...
Why you think there are so many oldschool players?? Because the big updates of the past, to improve the game, were all together not good!
Secondly, I guess the biggest thing that's missing are non-members in oldschool RuneScape. I guess we al pay enough membership to develop somme proper anti-bot software to deal with the bot-problem. Non-members would create a stream of new potential members and feed the in-game economy!

Greetings.

Honestly, I do not approve of ant G.E. system in any way. Trading players face to face and having to find them has much more of an oldschool feel to it. Being able to speak to the person you wish to trade with has many benefits, it allows bartering and price negotiation, as well as an opportunity to make friends. I suggest you think of the long term effects of having a Grand exchange, and look at the aftermath in rs2. I know some of you like Rs2 (or rs3 now) but it should have no influence on Old school runescape what so ever. Old school runescape should be treated as its own game, not as a little brother to the main game. I just want jagex to keep this mind. I know I don't have much say in the game but I feel as if the majority of the true 07 community would agree with me. That is all, thank you for reading.

Also I feel like there is no need to rush updates in old school runescape, after all it is just 2007 right? :p Free to play should also be looked into. I know many true players of the past enjoyed to play runescape in f2p, Not because they did not wish to pay the $5 a month(how it used to be) but because they preferred that style of gameplay and that community.

I've not read through the entirety of this thread, and so I imagine anything I say will just be echoing the already stated concerns of many, but here's my two cents anyway:

07 was brought back because people wanted that version of the game. In fact, they wanted 05. Those who voted to bring it back were well aware of how considerably more time consuming it is compared to the modern Runescape.

For that reason, I think it's important to stay true to the version of the game that was initially re-established. Yes, trading takes a long time, especially when the majority of the world is merching and want something for nothing or offering something for everything - but that's the game as it was.

Instead of bringing back a form of Grand Exchange, which would go against everything this version of the game stood for, I think it's more important to focus on getting the community actively involved in trading through making better use of the resources already available to us, such as the forum.

When I voted to bring back 07, I did it in the hope of being able to play the game I loved in my nerdy youth. I don't think that should be spoiled by those too lazy or too impatient to play the game as it should be played.

With regards to the animals, to quote a previous poster: "it's a stupid way to call something summoning without calling it summoning". That's essentially what it'd be - summoning. It's undeniable that the original version of Runescape has gotten easier and easier over the years, and much of that is due to petty bonus-giving items or health-regenerating familiars. We, the players who voted to play a game without any of this, don't need it.

Generally though, the updates seem positive. Work on removing bots, work on making the game more engaging, but please, don't ruin the core parts of the game, like trading.
