I think that corporeal beast would be really nice to have on 07.
In my opinion:
-Combat level requirement (none), so even pures have chance to try defeat the beast
-Quest Requirement (75-100+), because not everyone are into questing but 100 quest points is pretty decent
-Introduce Spirit Shields as rare drops (Spirit shields yes, nerf little ? Maybe, but still should be new better shields than dragonfire shield, since the best shield in whole game costs like 20m ?)
-Introduce new best in slot items - (New high level armor, still nothing like torva that gives extra hp, would be too op)

I would like to see the shields do something never done before. The thing I was thinking goes like this - Spectral was always kind of used with rangers right? Okay so make it have NO DEFENSE REQUIREMENT but make it have a HIGH RANGE REQUIREMENT and so on you know? I will continue on.

Spectral
- No defense requirement but has a high ranger requirement and gives a larger range offensive bonus than any defense bonus. So your range offensive will be superb but your defense not so much.

Arcane
- No defense requirement but has a high mage requirement. Doesn't give much defense protection but gives good mage offensive ability.

Elysian
- No defense requirement but has high mele offensive attack - to equip you need a higher attack and strength level. Doesn't offer much defense.

Divine
- High defensive requirement and no range/mage/mele requirement. Offers much more protection than every other spirit shield by a lot. It is meant to be a defensive shield while the others are offensive for each type of combat style.

This will give the shields variety and more of a use to stick with one instead of trying to save of for the next one. Also it will keep the price of each shield a lot higher if every type of account can use them. And I mean pures by this. I think pures should be able to use the offensive shields since there accounts are offensive based. And mains that wanna pvm hard monsters use the divine.

I don't know, I liked the idea.

Well I like this idea too.

what even is this game now it's not runescape 2007 any more i liked it before it had any godswords or any other new items introduced should of kept the game old fashioned the way players used to play it before they started over powering the game with new items etc if we wanted corp we'd just go play normal runescape. sorry but that's just my honest opinion.

Earlier in this thread somebody brought up the details of the Corporeal Beast's original flavor and lore. I think this has to be addressed before we discuss drops or possible changes in mechanics. After all if the update is implemented poorly then why bother to release it? Do the other sub-bosses such as the tormented wraith return with this? How would we handle the blessed elixir drops or would the beast only drop the finished shields?

Lore

The original lore for the Corp Beast was that it is the bound manifestation of a supernatural horror from the ethereal plane of existence. The beast itself eats souls and spirits.

I suggest that we honor this lore when we consider implementing this creature.

Suggestions

This Creature is obviously aligned in some way with the prayer skill. I think it's drops should reflect that.

Move the cave to a spiritually canon site. Not Entrana, we'd never be able to smuggle weapons there. Maybe around the monastery?

New Drops

-
Consecrated Mace
(level 75+ Crush weapon, also has a prayer bonus and special attack that bypasses and drains prayer - %100 Special drain)
-
Prayer Equipment for Ranged and Mage
(I'm alluding to something along the lines of Akrisae's robes and something new for ranged. I'm not asking for a whole set of items, just something that will help with these scenarios.)

Spirit Shields

Assuming the drop rates remain the same as they were in the previous incarnation of the game I suggest we do not tamper with the Elysian or Divine. I rarely if ever saw them in game and they didn't effect anything I did. The other two were fine with me.

However I would like to ask, before we add anything new to the game why not try to use what we have available? If it dropped some sort of prayer item why not allow us to bind it to certain armors? I'm thinking Splitbark.

Yes i really like the idea of a 100% drop on corp. Corp Claw or core would be an awesome redeemable item for cosmetics or herb, maybe even artisan O.o
I'd like to see more drops like the mini pets which have a separate drop table.

Maybe give the shields negative defensive stat bonuses with a low defense requirement?
Each shield maybe being more focused on it's special ability.
I also like the idea of a making a new crush or ranged item with the req of 75.

OK, first of all, anyone that's under 115 combat shouldn't be allowed to vote for corp.
This is not going to be an addition to the cow field, this is serious, I'm sorry to be rude but why should someone that cant even dream of going to corp beable to decide if it comes into the game, if it drops something good and if it's as it should be. Corp needs to drop spirit shields and they can't be nerfed, they were so rare but so amazing that people would camp for weeks in big teams, you aren't going to 4-5 man camp corp for a week to get a splitbark add-on or a cosmetic item... We need a big goal, even the armadyl hilt is currently crashing, PvM is becoming more and more pointless, we need something to go for, we need something exciting, we need big splits, why should a low level that doesn't even understand what corp is about beable to take that away from us and throw in something that they want just to call it 'balanced'.
I think that the Corporeal Beast should have a requirement of 200 quest points (this isn't hard and if you want to try corp you should have barrows gloves anyway, 200qp isnt hard after barrows gloves) and a 105 combat restriction, I don't expect level 105s to beable to kill it, but why not let them try it out for fun. On the other hand I don't think that a level 60 pure should beable to go to corp, you need a spear to do any real damage, spears give defence xp, if you're ranging then you wont be dealing as much damage, the MAX hit is capped at I believe 50, ruby bolts have a 1/10 or 1/20 chance of speccing, rangers are leechers. This is high level content, theres already alot of things for lower levels to do.

Edit: Scrap the 200qp, spoke to some friends, turns out im the only one who's sad enough to quest past bgloves, maybe make a 176qp req (this is the minimum amount of qps for barrows gloves which imo everyone at corp should have).

Adding corporeal beasts gives so much more content to the game, it's something that you can camp forever.

Spirit shields MUST return as they used to be, except for Divine as it was simply OP.
We NEED items that are worth hunting for, for pvmers (and players in general) there isn't much to do any longer, due to the fact GWD prices are too low to keep hunting for at this point.

Don't attach any QP requirements to it, it doesn't make sense.

Return CORP as it was in it's glory days.

We have enough shields, and the shields it dropped back in the day were overpowered. I think the drops should be completely new to fill in the gaps, for example crush weapons. They should also be balanced so that they won't make anything far easier to do or be overpowered in PvP.

Since it is a very hard boss compared to the others i feel like there should be quite a variety of different drops, i.e loot for range, mage and melee.

Please read some of my ideas below.

Drop Ideas

1h Mace

+82 Crush
+82 Strength
(Same stats and speed as a whip but a as a crush weapon)
Special Attack:
Your hit ignore all of the opponents defenses but deals 30% less damage. (70% special cost)

2h Crossbow

+132 range
(Same speed as a normal crossbow, does same damage but with higher ranged attack bonus and a special attack)
Special Attack:
Your shot penetrates 50% of your opponents defences. (55% Special cost)

Divine Amulet

+20 on all Defenses
+7 Pray

Elysian Amulet

+15 Range
+5 Pray
(no other stats)

Spectral Hat

Attack Bonus:
-5 Stab
-5 Slash
-5 Crush
+10 Magic
-5 Range

Defense Bonus:
+20 Stab
+20 Slash
+20 Crush
+8 Magic
+0 Range

Spectral Robe Top

Attack Bonus:
-15 Stab
-15 Slash
-15 Crush
+35 Magic
-15 Range

Defense Bonus:
+75 Stab
+75 Slash
+75 Crush
+50 Magic
+0 Range

Spectral Skirt

Attack Bonus:
-10 Stab
-10 Slash
-10 Crush
+27 Magic
-10 Range

Defense Bonus:
+45 Stab
+45 Slash
+45 Crush
+30 Magic
+0 Range

Currently mage doesn't have any good armour like Bandos or Armadyl and this would help fill in the gaps.

Good idea, will there be a sum up post showing all the best ideas so that those who don't want to go through all the pages can see them?
