Ultimately, MTX is intended for players who want something to help them stand out from the crowd when playing online, or even just those who are big fans of the games and want to support the game developers further.
Yes, it means that some players end up spending more on games than others and that does result in increased profits for the game developers. It also helps them to put more money into new titles and to understand what players look for in their games. If players simply didn’t buy MTX items, they would not be added into games in future. So, it is extremely obvious from Jagex's financial reports that players love MTX. That's why it was added into games, and no reason not to see them in the games.
All in all, TH, cosmetic items, and MTX in general have been a huge boon for the gaming industry, being a driving factor in the increased popularity of gaming over the past decade or so. They aren’t a bad thing if done right.

Well, the sad reality is that no game can ever be perfect, so yeah, complaints are something that will always happen. However, a lot more people would play if they removed MTX, because MTX is a major game integrity damaging issue that drives people away. So yeah, it'd still be a huge improvement to remove the MTX, or even TH alone. > )
Even more people will not only play, but pay with MTX. Why should any game developers remove MTX?
