Jagex I hope the promises you made today will be kept. I don't mind MTX staying but the exp selling part of it should be gone. It's perfectly possible for a game to survive financially without being pay to win. You should expand your player base instead of relying on the TH addiction of your more wealthy players, as having a few million players each paying a little for cosmetics is way better than having only a few thousand wealthy players paying for exp. And how you do that is by making better content for the game, making something that people would actually want to play.

I was only 12 years old when I started playing this game. Although I only play on and off, I've played for almost 15 years now and I have grown really attached to Runescape. Please don't let the game turn into one of those Chinese pay 2 win mmos(I'm Chinese btw so please don't say that I'm racist). Make the changes you mentioned today (the rework of TH) happen. Please. I really hope Runescape will still be here 15 years from now.

Ill believe it when Jagex keeps their empty promises and releases some actual content....
What are the **** is the development team even doing , eating snacks while watching youtube ??

How about creating some ingame content before making rs available on other platforms when the content still will be missing ?!?

RIP Runescape 3..

Quit RS3 and go play old school if you still care about this game, thats the place where content gets released...

-remove all exp giving lamps & dummies etc from TH (leave bonus exp stars they dont do so much harm as direct exp gain)
-add more cosmetics to replace exp lamps
-add unique stuff there not just recycling (or renaming them with slight modification) old promos

that will go to right direction

Not what I expected. I don't even play either version of the game, but I still wanted to at least have a little faith in RS3 in hopes of playing again. You guys made OSRS took over in every aspect. A youtuber that used to do RuneScape 3 videos commonly with his OSRS, but now he rarely does it because OSRS has a bigger viewer base right now and they started hating when he did RS3 videos. Also I really want to know who the community manager is. Hoping to play soon.

I think everyone should look at the facts.

Players

Based on average players at all times per day RS3 has gone from averaging 45,000 players in 2013 to 25,000 players for the last couple of months. This has dropped by 4,500 players this year alone.

OSRS has gone from an average of 12,000 players in 2013 to a consistent 44,000 players this year. Since January there have been 44,000+ on average.

Now look at revenue.

In 2015;
Subscription; 37.6m
MTX rev; 19.6m
Ad; 470k
other; 101k
Profit; 20.4m (before tax)

In 2016;
Subscription; 46.8m
MTX; 27m
Ads; 375k
other; 142k
Profit; 28.8 (after tax)

Conclusion

Jagex cant afford to remove MTX completely, however maybe they should look at the update structure for old school in a bid to retain RS3 players and even start growing the player base again. If the current downturn continues and the game loses on average 5000 players a year RS3 has an expected life expectancy of 5 years. Although it would probably fail in two due to the lack of MTX transactions. Lets hope they make the game more beginner friendly and less pay to win.

I've been playing this game since I was in elementary school, and as a now college graduate I find myself asking why I am still playing this game.
If you look at where this game has gone in the past years, update after update is diminishing the player pool in RS3, putting dead end content out while over-hyping it up; to which the higher level players then are forced to do this content in order to keep their achievements, selling the game out to make "profit" since this is no longer a game, but a "cash-cow" for the owners.
If the owners expect this game to stay profitable they MUST respect what the players want - we don't want what has been put out. The only good updates that are coming into Runescape are for oldschool Runescape and not the main game rs3 itself.
If y'all are going to post this garbage "explanation", then do us a favor and don't do it. We know you focus on osrs now a days anyways; there is a larger player pool in osrs than RS3 because you actually give good updates to them.
New slayer is a joke, invention is the easiest crap ever put into game, bank rework and smithing/mining which was promised to us a long time ago is yet to come out - only just started working on it after many excuses like this you posted here.
I would recommend fixing OUR game and focusing on things that need re-works instead of trying to shovel MTX or other things we don't want or need down our throats.
:)
