While technically paying for an MMORPG is meant to contribute to keeping it going longer, that's not really all that beneficial if it comes at the cost of the game's integrity and the quality of the player experience. With the right community quality of experience, people will pay someone they want to support for the sake of supporting them rather than whatever they're getting as a bonus. That's where buying cosmetics may seem more worthwhile, since it's more proof of transaction than what you were aiming to do.

Jagex hasn't earned that kind of payment with its practices. With all the scammy stuff going on with their MTX lately, they haven't earned the goodwill to get paid purely for the sake of keeping Runescape alive. If they keep going like this then Runescape deserves to shut down. Nostaligia just isn't enough to overlook all the people getting cheated and exploited out of money because the people running the game treat its players like money printers to be squeezed dry. That's not sustainable. It's not ethical. They have merch now and yet the MTX just keeps getting worse.

They should have laid out the full list of event promos and how/when they'd change at the start of the event and then followed through on it. That way the people paying for MTX know exactly what they're paying for and Jagex isn't profiting off of misunderstandings or outright false advertizing. They want to make money with MTX? Then they still owe a quality of experience to the people paying for them. I don't want to see them pull this kind of thing again. How to block a forum user
