Record profits.
Content that is only diminishing in both quality and quantity over time.
Terrible customer support.
More and more MTX.
Their answer? Raise the membership price.
Content ... over time? Speak for yourself -- I'm sorry they can't produce an update that satisfies everyone in their playerbase. The only real problem I have is how they haven't updated the NXT client since release. Aside from that, the updates they have been coming out with are fine by me.
Terrible customer support - Have you ever even went through customer support? I've went through customer support plenty of times and have never had a problem with them. Whether a billing issue, account issue, or some miscellaneous bug -- I've never had a problem. I do often see keyboard warriors, though, who call customer support garbage and have never actual used it before. They often hear it from some other person who hears it from some other person, etc.
Have you ever considered that the playerbase is dwindling because the newer generation of gamers don't have the attention span to spend 15 hours chopping a tree? Not enough players are attracted to the playstyle/ idea behind RuneScape. As a result less people are joining &, like any other game, people stop playing over time.
More & More MTX -- Cool. Who cares?
Raise Membership Prices -- This was bound to happen. As time goes on, prices increase. Not rocket science. I'm sorry if you cant afford to spend <$100 a year for a game you enjoy playing.
P2W -- Please explain to me how RuneScape is P2W. The only goal is to progress to the endgame. This isn't battlefront where you can get perks from lootcrates that give you significant advantages. I don't think my life will end if someone gets 99 agility from spins.

As long as they don't take away f2p or allow people to pvp me anywhere if they pay money, I'll still play runescape. Other people doing well doesn't affect me.
F2P has such a shallow "endgame" that I can understand why you'd think that you aren't affected, but the reality is that, as long as Runescape remains to be a multiplayer experience, you are always affected in some way(s) by key buyers unloading on keys. One common effect is profitability of resources dropping thanks to the injection of resources from TH's "junk" prize slots; the key buyers are much more interested in lamps and stars, so what they do is dump those junk prizes to the GE, causing the prices of those resources to drop due to increased supply. Furthermore, because the key buyers get their exp from lamps and stars (and lamps that consume bonus exp gained from the stars), they don't need to consume existing resources on the market, which means the demand goes down and thus the price of resources drops even more so.
So even though the game might not directly rub it in your face that "this is one of the consequence of people buying keys", the consequences are there and everyone is affected, whether they realize it themselves or not. All it takes is knowledge of the game and a bit of effort to think and see the effects. > )
I agree with you at some point, but with the 2 latest skills (especially invention) those you call "junk" are important even to the end-game players. For example an augmented noxious bow needs charges to work and charges come from simple parts which come from logs.

I used one of the Huge lamps, and nothing happened, it didn't take my remainder down. I had to use the second Huge lamp to get it down. The first one did nothing, the second one took it down by 25709 which is from I have experienced the norm for one, so the first one was a waste. This has happened to me before and when I reported it they did nothing.

Good for them, unfortunately not good for us, when it could be.
You like halfassed content? Good for you. Most people don't.
Thanks, knowing that you had a good customer support experience proves everyone else wrong. Well done.
At least you have the courage to admit the playerbase is dwindling. New players aren't coming because of a playstyle they don't enjoy. Old players are leaving because of poor content and an aggressive MTX campaign. Remember that one time they reworked the entire summoning skill to push an MTX promotion and had to revert it a week after? We just missed an easter holiday event in order to sell Solomon's coins for the Fayre. It's not just MTX, it's the health of the game being ignored in favor of profits. No one's saying Jagex shouldn't make money. They just need to start reinvesting in the game, and if they can't do that, lighten up on the promotions.
Who cares? What posts did you read to get so salty?
"Prices increase" isn't an argument when stopping an increase in membership was one of the justifications for MTX in the first place. Again, record profits, and this ties in to the lack of players. It raises the barrier of entry for new players.
Also, you just proved that runescape is pay2win. If the goal is "endgame" and MTX pushes you towards endgame, you're paying to win. You seem to have some imaginary definition of pay2win that hinges on whether other players are beating you or not. Even single player games can be pay2win.
I dig it. Gives some of us that work a lot or have school an opportunity to level
Up.
