I am one of those people that like TH and don't see a problem with it.

MTX is not about keeping Jagex operating really. The game makes crazy amounts of profit. Like I said paid a £31 million dividend last year, more then Jagex made from all forms of MTX including Bonds and Solomon. That's £31 million of player's money that will never go back to developer salary, improving the game or creating new games. ^_^ :D

Ideally yes, but we all know it won't happen unless someone could prove that literally everyone will quit if they don't.

A better option is to try and gt Jagex to only hold the non-damaging promos that just sell cosmetics, and try and persuade the morons that spend money on the XP promotions to stop doing so.

Bots did not give Jagex money, they cost Jagex money to the point the game almost had to close down, because guess what, botters who cheat don't pay with their own money, they steal credit cards and make fraudulent payments. What happens when fraudulent payments are made in large numbers?

Jagex has to refund all the stolen money.
Jagex has to pay a fee on top of the money returned, leaving Jagex in the negative because not only do they not get to keep the payment, the return fees make them lose money.
Banks do not like fraudulent payments and having to reverse payments, it costs them money too, and banks were going to stop allowing Jagex to even accept credit cards or process payments if the fraud was not stopped. This led to the removal of free trade and removal of wilderness PKing to save the game because of the damage botters with their fraudulent payments were doing.

So when you come on and start out by saying removal of bots means Jagex loses money by banning them, no they don't. Getting rid of bots is only good for the bottom line because not getting rid of them costs Jagex even more money because of fraudulent payments criminals make who do botting. Hi.

The future of the game is more likely to increase MTX, not remove them.

If a person pays for membership, they might spend lets say at most $120 in a year on membership for one account.

A person could spend several hundred dollars a month on MTX, keys, bonds, runecoins.

Membership could be made free to entice more people to play, with MTX becoming the main way for Jagex to make money, especially with the game moving to mobile where in app purchases are the norm.

So I am not seeing MTX going away, but rather for them to continue and potentially even increase. Hi.

Agree with all this. Treasure Hunter needs to go, or RS3 needs to go f2p. A subscription-based model with game-impacting MTX is abhorrent. Take one or the other, both is not only greedy, but a detriment to the longevity of the game.

F2p + MTX means plenty of new players that would try to join the community and invest in the MTX. P2P with no (game impacting) MTX gives people a reason to play, it shows integrity in the game's vision. P2P + MTX is just a turnoff, and I'm sure it pushes new players away because they think the game is just a cashgrab.

At this point I'm convinced that the only reason the game hasn't gone f2p, is just to maintain the value of bonds.

RuneScape will never downgrade to a free to play game. Realistically, Treasure Hunter isn't game impacting unless you're spending hundreds or thousands of dollars in keys for xp, even then we don't have the statistics on how many players are actually buying keys at those rates and even then; why should it matter how they spend their money?

I don't see the correlation between new players and the assumption they'd invest in MTX. Considering how most games are nowadays, a majority of new generation players probably won't care. Look at WoW for example, you can literally buy your way to level 100, buy tokens for in-game gold, all while its $15 a month to play, on top of having to purchase WoW itself and its expansions. I don't see an outcry in their community.

If you feel P2P + MTX is a turnoff, that sounds like a personal problem. At the end of the day, I don't devalue my account or my grind because you envy or feel cheated someone spent money to get where you/they are. _.•´¯`•._.•´¯`•.* D E L A Y *.•´¯`•._.•´¯`•._

Personal problem, not a personal problem MTX was justified for all the bots leaving the rs in the bot bust. Now that money is no longer a problem, get the fuck rid of it! Lets vote! R.I.P. rs3 2019.
