You've misunderstood the situation, it's actually the flip/merch/investors of Partyhats that are not "putting in the effort," they simply leech wealth from other people.
Flip/merch/investors of Partyhats, do not "put in the effort," they don't even have to log into the game to leech billions.
So flip/merch/investors are the one who are not owed the gps they leech from other players.
Flip/merch/investing is an afk activity, it's outpacing intense activities, it's outpacing activities where you actually have to log an play the game.
Indeed Runescape is a game, it's updated regularly, from time to time these updates address "game balance" issues. Flip/merch/investing of Partyhats presents a game balance issue because it's overpowered, and so, flip/merch/investing of Partyhats must be nerfed.
Partyhats on Treasure Hunter is an excellent way to resolve that game balance issue.
Anyway, Partyhats are not "status symbols," Partyhats are cosmetic holiday items that were shared with everyone, the Christmas Crackers were given away freely, it brought the community together to snap the Crackers so everyone could celebrate the holidays partying with the Partyhats.
Indeed, there are many ways to release the Partyhats again as well as address the game balance issues, and I personally, support practically all ideas about how to release the Partyhats again.
However, the many other ways to release the Partyhats are best discussed on other threads since the focus on this thread is Partyhats on Treasure Hunter.
So, there are valid points here, no one knows what the price of Partyhats are (the only verified price is the alch value of zero gps), the flippers appear to fabricate the prices which suit their profit margins and the hyper-inflation outpaces gameplay.

Perhaps you know that Partyhats on Treasure Hunter is an awesome idea, but you can't or won't let yourself admit it, perhaps you just know that your views have been refuted, I can only guess about the circumstances that compel you to rant. Anyway, there are many excellent reasons for supporting Partyhats on Treasure Hunter, and your ranting has strengthened those reasons because you're unable, or unwilling, to even discuss the topic.
