The only way I could see Jagex making lamps bankable is if they were locked to the amount of XP you would get based on skill levels at the time you got them, which for Prismatic lamps and stars would check all your skills and lock in the levels you had at the time you got the lamp.
This would also mean none of the lamps could be stackable in your bank since they would all give different amounts of XP and make bank storage a problem as you got more lamps.

So basically, no support.

If you can't use them, destroy them, it makes more sense than holding them when they make it so you can't play the game, the amount of XP lost is negligible compared to the XP you could gain if you didn't try to hold them.

I do agree on one thing, giving lamps which can only be used by members on F2P causes players to stop playing, as players don't like to destroy things, so the best solution is to not reward members lamps to F2P as they don't make players get members, instead reward lower level F2P usable lamps, and tell players if they were a member they would have gotten a better lamp. Only bankable members items should be rewarded to F2P, since bankable items do make players want to get members when they have a lot of them in their banks.

I thought the whole point of using lamps is to get past the grindy lower levels that have much slower xp rate training methods? Sure, I wouldn't really want to use it under level 30/40 since those levels are fast and you can get a lot of xp from quests, but I'm sure as hell not going to wait until level 98 before using my lamps. I'd rather get less xp per lamp than to grind through some slower/more tedious training method to get the skill to 98.

Examples:
1) Firemaking, I'd rather skip straight to higher level logs than burn money on burning normal logs till level 15. Pretty crazy how normal logs are more than twice the price yew logs but only give 1/5 of the xp.
2) Mining, I'd like to skip past granites and go to concentrated sandstones, no need to deal with desert heat and more afk.
3) Agility, just save me form the hell that is lower level agility training, get me to a high enough level to make shf worth using.

Agreed, but I think you're getting what I'm trying to tell?

Not really, what I'm saying is almost the exact opposite of what you are. I wouldn't use lamps at level 1, but I most definitely will not wait until level 98 before I use my hoarded lamps. I would use it at some lower level to allow me to skip past the slower training methods and get access to faster methods.

Then in terms of overall game population, not that many would fit in that category of people you described. While your statement is true, it does not paint a good picture of the sentiment of overall player base.

Lamps also can be bought later when you are high level. This argument is stupid.
Also things like training dummies can be banked already.

Well after a year of premier, and now back as an over level 99 F2P...

Got about 5 different large lamps, and can't do dungeoneering without destroying them. O_o

Please make an option for this, like they're worth half or a way to bank them...

If it stops Treasure Hunter being of value, that is stupid, as commercially we want our products we're selling, to be as attractive as possible. ;)
