Personally its been how many years since TH and SGS came into being?
And Jagex has had a huge amount of Grief (look on Reddit on any given day)
And if Jagex hasnt stopped now .. it wont..
And if RS3 dies.. i have said this before.. Jagex will only put MTX on OSRS as its been
a huge amount of revenue over the past years of its existence. Jagex wont let that
amount of revenue go.
Let me go a step further.. I know Jagex doesnt allow f2p to use bxp but I thought they
could use small lamps. (please let me know if im wrong).
And if people dont buy things well enough on RS3.. lamps or Runecoins.. then eventually
OSRS will get MTX too.
All in all.. Jagex making F2P people use their lamps and stars by getting Membership is
a good thing. If not then if Jagex did let them bank it, when it was taken out of bank,
the xp being at say an even 1k xp per lamp would be good.
I think you missed the entire point of this thread.
F2P getting members lamps is not making them get members as far as I can tell, its making them quit playing.
This thread is not trying to stop MTX, or to stop F2P getting members items they can bank which might make them want to get members, it is to stop F2P from getting something they can't use or bank and which inhibits play, while continuing to get items they can use and bank for incentive to get members, but not get something which simply clogs up their inventory until they stop playing.

Don't get the issue here. They're just lamps. Drop em or keep em, doesn't matter, especially since the xp is negligible at low levels, which f2ps will be since the member skills are capped at 5.
Some players have difficulty dropping or destroying something they see as valuable and will instead let their inventory become clogged up and then stop playing because they haven't got enough inventory space to continue playing but won't destroy the lamps, and can't do Dungeonerring with lamps in their inventory, etc.
The players would be much better off never getting lamps they can't use or bank.
Though I agree players would be giving up very little destroying the lamps which would make them able to play, and it would be giving up very little, it is a problem for some players giving anything up even if they would be better off doing so. I was one of those players who stopped playing an account due to lamps I was unwilling to destroy but couldn't bank or use without members.
I know the mindset of such a person because I am one of those who wouldn't destroy a lamp and will stop playing an account instead. That has changed now, it gets easier after destroying one to destroy another, but it would be far better to not get them to begin with, and help retain more players who might later become members.
Hi.
Alternatively, if F2P is going to continue to get members lamps, at least let an NPC hold onto them so they can free up their inventory space. Lock the XP at a low level to make them all the same XP so the NPC doesn't have to remember what level of XP a player had for each lamp.
But I think the better solution is to not get members lamps on F2P.

If ppl quit playing over some simple lamps....
They do. Or at the least the lamps hinder play by taking up inventory space and preventing doing Dungeoning, since you can't enter a Dungeoneering dungeon with the members lamps in your inventory. The lamps also hinder other skilling by taking up inventory space.

Well thats their own choice and fail to see how this means this should happen?
Maybe they need to learn to grow-up and just make a few extra clicks in a click based game...
I got the point ... about f2p not getting a key because they will quit if they cant use it.
My point was.. if enough people quit over a th key.. then osrs will get mtx so no need to
quit over a th key. Also i didnt see the answer but i though small lamps could be used
by f2p if they got that on th? And small stars the bxp can be put on a skill even if they
have to wait till they are a member to use it. I might be wrong on the lamps and/or stars.
There are plenty of p2p that dont use stars/lamps/th keys too and thats a choice the
same as being f2p is now a choice
With buying membership with in game gold a thing now.. surely the people that are
f2p are there because they dont play enough or dont care enough to be member with or without a key that is useable.
The richest person is not who has the most. It is who Needs the least.

"Free to Players quitting over a free XP dump they can't open means OSRS gets MTX"
Guys this is not funny, I'm also considering quitting until I finish college and get a job so I am able to afford members. It's either that or I luck out on a monthly subscription from a coupon in a cereal box. The problem is I wasted a key on this lamp so there's no way I'm going to destroy it and now because of it I can't do dungeoneering (which is basically the only way to level up without wasting gold). Basically bricked my account.

F2P can use small lamps and stars, just not the large ones.
Its not the key that is not usable, its the members lamps they can't use or bank and the large lamps take up inventory space eventually stopping F2P from playing content due to lack of inventory space or not being allowed to take the lamps into some places such as Dungeoneering. They want to use the lamps but can't until they get members, but the lamps slow them down in skilling or playing making it harder to earn GP, and some will eventually stop playing the account rather than destroy the large lamps.
They should probably just destroy the lamps so they can play, but some just won't, so it would be better for them to not get lamps they can't use on F2P, so they can use their inventory to earn GP to buy bonds faster.
Jagex is hurting themselves giving F2P large lamps if its slowing players down from getting members. If the data shows otherwise and giving large lamps makes players get members sooner, then this whole thread is irrelevant.
