Introduction:

TL;DR: This thread is used to discuss the Specific Rules for this Specialist forums as well as add and help make new ones going forward.

When it comes to having a Sub-Forums there are given rules within those forums to follow, and specific Rules that keep those forums on topic. Now I do know that the Code of Conduct is used and mainly referred to when using the RuneScape Forums, but when it comes to Sub-Forums like this, where the majority of RuneScape players do not have access to there is a need for Specific Rules and guidelines that needs to be followed in this forums, which if broken can remove your "Privileges" from this Specialist forums.

I would like to clearly state, I did not make this thread to push for "RULES" or "GUIDELINES" to be push down on people and make this forums less more active then it already is because of all the pointless rules and Guidelines. What I wish to promote is a source for why someone would lose their "Privileges" from these forums. Although there might be hidden rules/guidelines that Jagex keep to them self, I still feel that we should have a clear window to those Rules/Guidelines so we as Fansite Owners and representatives know why we mysteriously had our "Privileges" taken from this forums.

Current Specific Rules:

The current specific rules we are given for these forums is stated here:

---------------------------------------------------------------

Fansite Staff Forum Guide

Welcome to the Fansite Staff forum!

What's the Fansite Staff Forum for?

A place for fansite staff members to chat to one another about all things fansitey.

FAQ

• I don't want to talk about fansites. I want to talk about Chuck Norris! Is that OK? That's fine, but this isn't the best forum for that. You should use the Off Topic forum

My view of the Specific Rules:

Which are the same specific rules carried on from our previous Fansite Staff forums. What I wish to create with everyone's help is a more translucent and fair "Rules & Guidelines" that is used when removing someones permission from these forums. What I want to clearly point out is that everyone has the right to their "OPINION" towards another fansite. If someone wish to voice their opinion about my fansite in a negative or positive way then they are entitle to do so, I would take their opinion as feedback and not as "Harassment". As long as that thread is within the Code of Conduct then I find it to be okay.

There is a few rules in the Code of Conduct that I wish to point out that should be given some exceptions:

Harassment or defamatory posting

Now I know that posting a thread directed to someone is against the rules, but with specialist forums like this, I think there should be exceptions for direct posting or naming of someone in a negative light as long as it is constructive and civil.

Which means that some threads might come off a little harsh, I still think as Fansites Owners and Representatives we should be able to handle those opinions maturely and take them as feedback. As long as they are not threatening or defacing a person or someones personality or race it should be seen as constructive criticism.

Advertising and Links
( No Exception to the Phishing Rule! )

Given that this rule is really old and never been updated with a up to date link for this "* Except supported fansites. You can find an updated list of fansites here ." I feel there should be some exceptions since this is a Specialist forums and not everyone has access to it. We already know we are allowed to post and advertise links within this forums.

Analyzing the Fansite Staff forums:

I read on a Reddit post from Mod Infinity (I will not get to into it...) that Quote, "though the fansite staff forum is considered a 'privilege' and not an assumed right (e.g, buying membership and being able to log into a members only world would be an assumed right), so access can be removed for a number of different reasons". Now to get back onto "Specific Rules" for this forums I feel that those reasons should be stated in the guidelines and be open for discussion.

Again:

"
What's the Fansite Staff Forum for?

A place for fansite staff members to chat to one another about all things fansitey."

Why take such a "privilege" from us and make it 10x's harder to communicate with each other? If it is a "Privilege" to be in these forums and not for "Communication" why the need for this forums when it can be taken away for "a number of different reasons" that is not stated clearly to us.

I would like to mention a thread that discussed the point of this forums " Is it worth staying here? ", I don't like to bring up past issues, but yet the more things change the more it becomes the same repeated cycle. if Jagex wish to grow and create, "the foundations of the fansite support scheme delivers both for Jagex and the fansites who work hard to create community events and provide quality services to our players." (These words are taken from a different source but stated by the Fansite Curator.) then I feel Jagex should include feedback of those who are making Fansites for the RuneScape Community.

Many, many different Gaming companies look at fansites as a highly valued resource for them and something that help with the growth for their community and game. Not everyone has the same ability to grow a fast Community with out some support from Jagex especially newer fansites.

If you look at this forums you can see, there is not a strong benefit with being in this forums. So to justify a "privilege" there has to some way a benefit with being in these forums. The only benefit I can clearly see is "Communicating with other Fansites" to me that is the only big benefit I get out of this forums since the new Support Tier Changes.

Fansite Specific Rules & Guidelines:

Now getting back to the topic at hand it would be best to structure this forums with Rules and Guidelines so everyone know why their privileges will be taken away, without just making some made up reason. If nothing is clearly stated that someone can view and see then to me those things can be made up and just be used to justify someones decisions or actions.

On a side note, I do not know how Jagex is ran as a Company or what their employees must do or promote when it comes to their Community. But I do hope to one day be invited so I can have a better understanding. But as of now I can only go by what I see and anything else is just made up rules to justify someones action or decision which can be bias.

So going forward I would like to have Rules & Guidelines stated, I would also wish to add my suggestions for guidelines & rules but I would rather collect the feedback from everyone else before I do so.

F.A.Q:

What is this thread about?:

This thread is about the current Specific rules for this Specialist forums as well as to discuss Guidelines and rules that majority of fansites can agree and abide by. This thread is not made to discourage people from posting in this forums, it is more so to have a open window as to the main reason why someone would lose their privilege to view this forums.

What is the main goal of this thread?:

The main goal of this thread is create a more better and transparent structure that Jagex follows when they deem someone to not have the privilege of viewing this forums. Ultimately Jagex has full rights to do what they wish with their forums, but when it comes to a individual taking actions upon a RuneScape player who plays "Jagex" game and that individual is a employee of Jagex and not the full CEO of Jagex there is some guidelines that needs to be shown and followed for players and Employees to abide by without their reasons of taking actions being justified for their own bias reasons.

But everything is fine why the need for this?:

Everything is not fine, when it comes to people losing their privileges for no reason, and without them knowing what rule they have broken or guidelines they have broken before they lost it, then things can not be justified without it being a bias reason. If this forums is used to Communicate with other Fansites then by taking someone privilege to do so, means that your making it harder for them to do so.

More questions will be added soon...
