Well the reason for the RuneZone bias over other fansites is obvious, but understandable.

Nope, no HLF access (in a week hopefully that will change, haha) so I guess I'm not fully informed.

Was unaware that you had an event ignored for promotion. Your argument is valid then.

Thank you Infinity for this reply. Take your time to process and read through all the suggestions and rants. Try to pick up all of the concrete suggestions or important topics and give a response for them. Obviously not everything can be done, but let's give it a try.

I've resent you my mail. Thanks. ;)

Some of this has been said, some of what I am about to say is slightly different, but just wanted to summarise what my view point would be since I am reading it all :)

Ultimately, I think this forum works for what it is meant to do. It has brought fan sites together, this thread alone has brought discussion from all of them. I know we have had promotions made, DieHunted has managed to create a thread on a fan site vs fan site Heist, so surely it is working? Fan sites are interacting.

I don't necessarily this this forum is to blame. I think other things need to be improved surrounding fan sites, rather than this forum. Suggestions such as a dan site drop box will solve the content issue.

In terms of Jagex interaction with us, would it be possible to have a more exclusive/personal interaction at all? I am not saying hey give me your address! Or your Skype! But maybe a mess engine service, or something similar? Maybe even a monthly get together with Jagex to discuss everything fan site?

Just my little old opinion :)

Maybe I just have to add something. I've not gone through all of the ideas and thoughts but just to point out what I want with this forum section and so on. As I can see Jagex point is to make this a place where fansite staffs may integrate, share ideas and maybe do things together. And this is to make the game RuneScape we all love an even better game than it was before. And with these ideas coming I personally would love to see ideas and thoughts from Jagex as well and maybe some input from time to time with what they can do to help us out to make the thing in our mind even better! And when this is done I think a "Check" will do sometimes from Jagex, even if it is just "I'll get these news on the RuneScape Twitter". It all counts since we are humans from all corners of this world and got no idea what topics are read and what are not. Some media got this information that tells who has seen it. A presence from everybody is all we need :)

And sometimes posts like a few in this thread just becomes massive once. Maybe it would have been easier as suggested above if we had some sort of contact? Similar to the Skype chat. Maybe in game, maybe in a external chat or anything. Just to deal with all thoughts we have. I guess a lot of us got similar thoughts of how to reach what we all want, the RuneScape Community to have fun and enjoy their stay. So maybe a live chat is not that bad at all.

The most important thing from my side is that we stay united. That is what I believe in, sort things out and make things happen. We are all struggling for the same goal :)

Also read somewhere about the "Who's is who". It is such an easy thread and I do believe that one for example is easier to be player held instead of taking your valuable time to update it once in a while ;)

And last a thing I am a but concerned about, that is for foreign language Fansites. If there would be a possibility to work together and create some sort of progression tier and maybe its own post on the official RuneScape forums. We know that our communities are minorities but we would love to have the same ability to spread the word about the fansite and grow. From my point of view we are some sort of hidden in the shadows with support where language doesn’t matter.

I would also like to add yes, I’ve not been as active as maybe one could expect on these forums. I’ve had a lot of things going on IRL with studies, running a clan, running the site, running a new event serie. Almost no time to play ;) Hopefully it will get better when we have had our staff meeting this evening (have been a long time since we had one because of IRL and so on).

LAST! Is it worth staying? My answer is YES and I will be on this journey towards an even better Fansite community and a Gielinor funnier than ever :)

I guess the takeaway from this thread is that event promotions need to be done better when requested with equality for all fan sites, and a live chat might be helpful, depending on how it is set up so it doesn't turn into a spam chat that nobody cares about.

Regarding the other stuff...I feel like there are some unrealistic expectations of what the JMods here can/have time to actually do, and people are as a result getting unnecessarily angry when you aren't answered.

Request A: Hey, can we get an updated map of dungeons?
This request is easy to respond to because they just need to forward over a file. When we asked for this, we got them pretty quickly.

Request B: Hey, can you tweet/post about X Y Z thing?
This request is easy to handle and for me, has been a breeze with no issues, but some ignores have been mentioned in previous posts (RS Wiki) so that should be fixed.

Request C: Hey, can we get a new forum created with brand new databases of X Y Z stuff in it, handled in X Y Z way that may require a bunch of unique coding just for us, made on your own time?
This request asks way too much relative to A and B. Obviously it would be great if all fan sites had access to everything we could think of but its so much easier said than done.

Now, if fan sites were more of a priority for Jagex, then you could argue that Request C is reasonable, but I'm sure that we are not. It wouldn't make immediate business sense to put us at a priority.

I would argue that helping fan sites produces long term positive results for Jagex, but very little short term. It's hard to justify Request C-types with hypothetical promises of community building etc. etc. as true as they might be.

I'm not downplaying the usefulness of the suggestions in this forum, I think a lot of them are great, but think everyone here is getting a little unrealistic and should take things step by step if you are angry.

A few of my ideas I had look into by one particular JMOD which enjoys reading Community ideas and he likes it and would not mind helping upload images :) .

But again it's up to the Fansite Curator to get a push for something like that.

It's not hard nor unrealistic to be honest :) .

Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone. I'll reply to it shortly. :) If you have an e-mail unanswered for more than 48hrs then I'd advise resending it as it may have got stuck in our spam filter.

Thanks,

What exactly is your definition of "shortly"?? Your lack of post basically sums up all the problems people are having here.

Unfortunately I've been really busy recently and as such have only been replying to 'emergency style e-mails'. I'm not in the office tomorrow or on Friday, and am working all weekend out of the office, but will endeavor to get a reply to you all shortly. I hope you can show some courtesy to this and I appreciate your patience.

Any reply I make to this needs to be detailed and thought out - there's no point rushing a reply for the sake of being 'quick' to satisfy that specific desire, but e-mails, promotional requests etc which I think are highly valued are of course being dealt with as a priority.
