It's possible that the fertility rates have not dropped across Iaia equally. It could be that the area where Hannibus' village was located was among the earlier areas to suffer from the full impact of the infertility, while in other parts of the planet fertility has remained the same. After all, Iaia seems to be roughly the same size as Earth, and Mod Raven has stated that in 6,000+ years the Ilujanka have gone from populating the entire planet to having only one city left, so it could very well be that by this point even the most remote Ilujanka settlements have succumbed to the infertility, and the survivors from across the world have banded together in an effort to survive in the increasingly emptier world.

This also just opened up more questions for me after reading through it. Since Sharrigan is Hannibus' multi-great granddaughter and that pretty much confirms he had children on Iaia, in Last Riders he says "soon the youngest of our people would be past childbearing age." His children would be part of that.

That would imply that Hannibus himself would've been well past that point, yet was still able to father Vindicta.

Not to mention that after he left, his children would have been able to have children themselves.
Under the assumption that he lived in a smaller village with the full brunt of the infertility problem, his children must have left the village and managed to have children in some other settlements, keeping that line going straight through the ages til Sharrigans time.

Is it not so that child-bearing age of human males extends all the way till the ends of their lives? Could it not be so with Dragon Riders as well? Could it not also be so that Hannibus was simply referring to the females of his species when he said ""soon the youngest of our people would be past childbearing age."?

Ah, yes, I mistook the word childbearing it seems. 'Bearing' would assume female. (This is why it's good to get feedback, second set of eyes to notice mistakes I make)

Still, I wonder what that makes of Morvannon. She most likely would have had to have been one of those youngest that Hannibus referred to then.

Or... perhaps... there's something different at work here.

Love to see people discussing my lovely little Illujanka, I'd love to do more with these guys... you know... while we can.

In regards to the size. In my mind the Illujanka females CAN grow to be larger than the males. However, Sharrigan and the females on Iaia currently are likely not able to grow as large due to reasons that tie in with their infertility problem.

Fun fact, Hannibus is considered to be quite tall by male Illujanaka standards.

Standard disclaimer: These Illujanka facts subject to change as necessitated by the story.

Perhaps the greater Anima on Gielinor allowed Vindicta to grow to the size she did. I do recall Raven above mere here hinting at the fact the anima allowed for Vindicta to be born in the first place.

As for One of a Kind, I couldn't let old Hannibus go through any more crap after being ousted by the Zamorakians and Zarosians as a traitor just because he stayed neutral (I honestly couldn't blame him for shunning both gods after that), and frozen into a statue by Enakhra to be a prize for her senpai. He needed to go back to his family. Besides there are more Ilujanka around, and since it was a choice, that hints that they aren't necessarily the answer to the Dragonkin problem anyway. I think there are other ways around that. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!
