The New High War God

"The god may die, but the philosophy is eternal. In time, another will grow to take his place, be they a god or not."

This story is based on an idea I put in the lore thread "What You Think Me Should Do?", and a RuneLabs thread with the same name.

After the player advises her to join the Bandosian cause, Uggy the goblin takes up her crossbows and daggers equipped with lightning gizmos, and rallies the remaining Bandosians as a new Chosen Commander. Leading a growing army of goblins, orks, ogres, trolls and other races, Uggy starts taking the world by storm. She uses her dagger to trick her opponents' nervous systems both on the battlefield, and off as part of a "trade" in weapons and armour as well as more blueprints for extra gizmos.

Eventually, her progress is noted by Sliske who gives her an invitation to his god killing contest. She agrees, and tells him, "We is far stronger and smarter than we was. Me will become New High War God!" Using her weapons in ambush and interrogation, she eventually reaches the Stone of Jas in a similar fashion to Zamorak in DAT, and she succeeds Bandos.

Knowing that the Dragonkin would come after her, she led them to worlds that she had been targeting, takes less from her pillaging campaigns and does it more quickly, leaves and lets the Kin destroy the rest of the civilisation (while she looks on with a wicked satisfaction on her face), and comes back to those worlds to take the rest of what remains. Uggy even manages to take a Dragonkin hostage and coerce him into fighting for her. She rises to tier 3, sets up massive and near-impenetrable fortresses on a planet relatively near Gielinor, and uses a seeing glass to spy on worlds she has pillaged or defeated. Her reign is long and terrifying, with vast accumulated wealth and power, and flies a banner with the slogan: "Believe in self, you is strong." Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

The New High War God - Part 2

Meanwhile, on Yu'biusk, Zarador and what remains of the Bandosian tribes mourn Bandos' passing while trying to live up to his beliefs as best they can. One day, Zarador falls to his knees and shakes in anguish, his voice trembling in sorrow: "Bandos...please come back to us."

Tiny fragments of Bandos' soul that had previously leaked out into memories become attracted to this spot in Yu'biusk, and Zarador's head fills with his voice. It says, "You have been lost for a long time, Zarador. Every one of my soldiers have been lost for a very long time. You need war, you need to spill blood. Rally my people around you and spill blood around Gielinor, then I can return again to make the universe tremble again!"

And so Zarador assembles the last remaining Bandosians in Yu'biusk and takes them back to Gielinor, starting war and painting the ground red in growing areas. He sent some of his servants to divine energy to sustain the parts of Bandos now inside him, and that was the call that brought Bandos back to the world. However, Bandos was weak at this time. So he called for the ogre shamans to find ways of giving him back his strength through magic and rituals, and they sent skavids to excavate the Blood and Death Altars and infuse the newly resurrected Bandos with their energy.

And so Bandos returns to tier 3, and it isn't long before he hears about Uggy, the New High War God. He is impressed that a mere goblin could reach his heights, and decides to head out to her main fortress to challenge her to a battle to decide who should lead the entire Bandosian fleet. And so both the Bandosians on his side and the Uggyists (the ones who were recruited to Uggy's side) meet. He draws his mace. She draws her dagger. They raise their weapons to the sky and roar, and the battle for the leadership over all Bandosians begins! Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

The New High War God - Part 3

Bandos smashes his mace into the ground, and a huge earthquake rends the earth, causing a nearby volcano to erupt. At the same time, a lightning bolt strikes Uggy's dagger and it changes shape and grows long enough to count as an odachi to her, crackling with electricity. The sky filled with ash, fire, storm, fury. The earth filled with metal, lava, blood, fury.

"Now we shall see who will emerge as champion, and leader of this mighty fleet," snarls Bandos, a gleam in his eye and a longing to paint his mace and armour with blood. "We is strongest race in universe, and me show it to you!" roars Uggy, her eyes glaring, filled with pride at being a goblin, finally standing toe to toe with her old deity. Magma spilling from cracks in the ground, ash and lightning pouring from the sky, they charge.

Bandos makes the first move, a ferocious swipe with his mace, soil rising 2,000 feet from the impact. Uggy dodges back and jumps across the bits of dirt sent flying with beautiful grace, raises her blade and slashes at Bandos' head. He blocks this attack, and the air from her blade slices a mountain behind him in two. An exchange of blows and parries is made for 20 whole minutes, non-stop, with no relent. Eventually, Bandos catches Uggy's head with a backhand and grabs her arm holding the dagger. How will she counter this?

Suddenly, a massive bolt of lightning strikes the blade, causing Bandos to recoil enough for Uggy to break free, and she thrusts it straight into his gut. Staggering in pain and rage, he pulls the blade out and wields it along with his mace. Uggy is forced to fight barehanded now, and she dodges, makes counter-attacks, even grabbing his mace. But then Bandos barges her with his shoulder, makes another swipe with his mace, then throws the dagger straight into her heart. Uggy falls to the ground face-down, forcing the blade further in. He turns to the Bandosians and roars in victory... Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

The New High War God - Part 4

Dawn approaches, and a pink glow breaks the deep blue night over the tent set by Gurts. He picks up the ropes and nets he keeps by the cradle holding little Uggy, and walks to the entrance of the tent, poking his head outside and caressing the knife in his shirt pocket; the Na*ogoshuun often came to this area, poking around that graveyard with the talluns dressed in red.

It looks safe, Gurts can come out to fetch breakfast. But he always looks back at the tent to make sure his little girl is safe, even when hunting and fishing. He sets traps for the lizards in the graveyard (making sure the talluns don't mess around with them), and uses the rest of the nets to fish in the river nearby.

The pink glow brightens and turns orange; the deep blue turns brighter as well, and the nets are filled with lizards and shrimps. Gurts takes his bounty back to the tent and drops one of the fish to Uggy for an appetiser, stroking her hair gently, then back out again to look for veg to go with it. He takes cabbages and doogle leaves for flavour, heads back to the tent and starts cooking everything into a stew, checking on Uggy every once in a while.

After munching away the last bits of shrimp, Uggy stretches her body and climbs out of her cradle, with a perfect landing in spite of her age. She toddles over to her daddy and gives him a hug while he's cooking. Gurts jumps slightly and looks around in shock, thinking it was the Na*ogoshuun making another ambush, but he looked down and found his little daughter snuggling up to him.

"Uggy, you is walking! Me is so proud," Gurts says. His voice is gentle and kindly; a model father, which is surprising given his upbringing with the Thorobshuun and the giants. It was so hectic and got boring for Gurts, so he walked away and set up tent here by the river; there's still strife as always, but it's nice and peaceful here. He can look after Uggy properly here. The New High War God - Part 5

"...the champion, the true god of war! I am Bandos, your god and your leader! Come, my soldiers, and spill blood across the wor-" Click. Bandos stops in his tracks at the sound. He turns to the body of Uggy, with her arm underneath her body, reaching the blade. Then a buzzing sound emanates from her. Then her body makes funny jolting movements, then hanging limp. Bandos now realises that she is not dead at all, the battle is not over; she hasn't even turned to stone yet. His jaw, which had been slightly ajar in faint contemplation at the odd sounds and movements, drops agape when her other arm pushes up from the earth, and the hand touching the blade yanks it out of her chest.

His arms hang limp and jaw hangs open at the sight of this. It's a miracle! She used her lightning to reinvigorate herself! How could a goblin possibly be this intelligent? How could a goblin stand to me, the mighty Bandos, true god of war? Uggy smirks at him, as if she knew what he was thinking, and says to him, "I told you, we is stronger and smarter now. You hasn't won yet. And me still has more where that came from."

Uggy puts away the dagger and takes out her crossbows. Bandos tosses his mace aside and draws a massive two-handed crossbow. The first part of the fight is over; now they start shooting.

The ash, lava and lightning rain down heavy now. Smoke rises from the old cracks in the earth. Bandos smiles with glazed eyes at the sight, as if he has seen the most beautiful landscape in existence. He also smiles at Uggy; she may just be a worthy opponent, something he had not seen since he was mortal. Uggy has an ever calm expression on her face; she is determined to win.

Uggy clicks the gizmos on her crossbows and they crackle. Bandos stamps the ground and new cracks appear in the earth; fresh magma and rocks burst forth and take their toll on the battleground. They take aim. They load their weapons. They fire. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

The New High War God - Part 6

"Daddy, what is we doing today?" Uggy is getting stronger by the day, she only learned to walk 10 days ago and was already helping with Gurts getting their things for catching food. Now they went to the woods nearby. They were getting more logs than usual; Gurts was planning to give his daughter a vital lesson which she will need to look after herself. After dropping their 30th log down to the tent and separating them from the wood for fire, he bent down to look at his daughter, hands on his knees.

"Uggy, you needs to understand that Big High War God says we must fight. He says that goblins is stupid and weak and worthless. Me doesn't think so. Me thinks we is stronger and smarter than he says we is. But first, you needs to learn to fight so you protects yourself, and your friends, if you needs to." Gurts get up and starts cutting the logs set aside away from the firewood, some in pointy shapes and some in curves. These different shapes were separated too. "Me thinks goblins is smart. We is good at finding things, imagining things. Me finds this place so we can survive and get stronger. You needs this, Uggy."

Uggy looks at a box near the bits of wood cut up and sees feathers there. She could tell they came from the birds flying up; she looked at them ever since she got out of the tent. But what are they doing here? She looks up at her father, who walks over to the box, takes some feathers, and puts them on the pointy sticks, away from the pointy end. Uggy is really confused now; what does this have to do with her protecting herself? And what are friends? All she has known, and she's only 3 weeks old, was her daddy.

Gurts then went inside his tent and picked up his crossbow. He showed Uggy the weapon but didn't load it for her; she needs to learn how to fire it before she shoots herself. "Uggy, this is a crossbow. Me finds it from the talluns." He shows her where the trigger is, and how to fire it. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

The New High War God - Part 7

Bandos' first shot skates past her face and blows up one of the fortresses she built. Rocks, metal, bodies of goblins, trolls and ogres alike, all burst forth like some twisted flower. A flower that he gazes at for a split second with wonder and glee.

Uggy's first shot is deflected into the sky by Bandos' crossbow and suddenly a barrage of lightning torrents down upon the battlefield. Blinding forks of light mixed with the shadowy curtain of ash, lava, dust, earth.

She suddenly lets loose a stream of bolts in a seemingly indiscriminate fashion around Bandos' area, while he stamps his foot, causing more earthquakes and fires off another scorcher straight at her head. The quakes cause the bolts Uggy fires around him to jump along with the earth. She makes her move; leaping across the debris and dodging his attacks, Uggy reaches Bandos and aims between his eyes.

Bandos belts Uggy with the handle of his crossbow, walks forward and takes aim. He scores a direct hit! A smouldering crater is what remains, and her body is buried within. A green arm pushes the soil, which is still smoking from the impact, and she climbs out. Her voice is a little weak and she pants: "That hurt. This hurt more though." She presses the gizmo on her crossbow.

The bolts, still scattered in the air along with earth flying from the impacts made in the battle, crackle to life and, suddenly, Bandos is trapped within a net of lightning! Then the volcano erupts, spewing lava into the clouds above, and fresh bolts crash down on the ensnared Bandos. Uggy wipes blood of her face and smirks. "Me isn't finished yet. You has to do more than that." But then the net of lightning stops and a cocoon of black tentacles is in Bandos' place. From within that pupa comes his voice. "You are not the only one here with new tricks, 'New High War God.' Allow me to show you what my ogres have done." Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

The New High War God - Part 8

Two months have passed. The sun is sinking down into the Galarpos mountains, casting a pink and orange image into the coming dusk. Uggy is getting stronger and smarter every day; she has already mastered the dagger and is getting better with her crossbow. She is experimenting with feathers from other birds, even going as far as the Feldip Hills for wimpy and chompy feathers, all the while keeping her eye out for ogres and wolves.

Gurts has become sick, and Uggy desperately searches for herbs and other plants to make medicine to cure him. She makes expeditions into Ardougne and the surrounding areas, stealing herbs from the farmers and taking any extra tools that may be needed. She got caught once by the guards in the city, but managed to escape using her knife to pick the lock. Goblins truly are resourceful creatures.

Setting larger net traps dotted around the tent and making notes of where they are on a map she keeps on her person, Uggy takes her spoils inside. They should be well defended against any Na*ogoshuun pillagers or the talluns following the God of Dark Fire. She noticed that most of the talluns in the city follow the God of Shiny Light, however. These gods played a history in the goblin trade from the God Wars; the Big High War God had sold the Saragorgak and Huzamogaarb off. Why he did that Gurts and Uggy couldn't tell. Weren't all goblins his property? And why would he sell his troops to his enemies?

A rustle outside stirs Uggy from her sleep. Then a rasp and grunting jerks her awake and out of bed. She grabs her knife and creeps towards the entrance. Gurts is still sleeping, his fever still high. She slowly opens the flaps of the tent... Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!
