Well, since OSRS went Full Metal Alchemist 2003 route (gecko ending trope), I would like to ask to someone who got more information than me.

I'm mainly a RS3 player, but already played and saw some new lore from OSRS. I would like to ask about what are the main differences in already established story arcs (the older ones) and maybe a bit about the new story arcs as well.

I've heard that they're completing some series on its own, so, how does that fit in the general Runescape lore? Since basically that meant that right now there's no thing like a canon RS story, I believe both must be valid as canon, right?

Thanks in advance,

Well, apparently all the established backstory is the same. It's just that some of the stories take different routes in the present day, as seen in Monkey Madness II (Glough and balloon assistant Le Smith both die, as does monkey guard Kruk), Dragon Slayer II (Bob the Cat dies whereas in RS3 he's still very much around - a nod to Schroedinger's cat, perhaps?), and A Taste of Hope (Kael Foreshaw outlives Mekritus, who is killed by the Abomination, whereas in RS3's Lord of Vampyrium, Kael dies before Mekritus during Lord Drakan's 'Blood hunt'. Also, Andiess Julp, Flaygian Screwte, and Ranis Drakan die in very different circumstances and places).

But the basic backstories of the dragonkin, the vampyres, and so forth are still intact. 'A Taste of Hope' uses much of what's established in the later Myreque quests (the trueborn vampyre houses and so forth) even as the storyline takes a few different turns (such as the player defeating Ranis Drakan before a crowd of Meiyerditch citizens as opposed to Vanescula killing Ranis in the arboretum anteroom). The new dragonkin character introduced in 'Dragon Slayer II' (Zorgoth) references the dragonkin's being cursed to be bonded to the Stone of Jas, and there's generally a sense that character histories are pretty much the same in both RS3 and OSRS.

However, we can expect some new twists and turns going forward.

I view it much like the dichotomy between the Star Wars canon timeline and the Star Wars Legends timeline: both have the same base story but have different stories that branch out and play out differently. ~

Darelzel did a great job explaining the main differences. Zeah is almost entirely an independent entity lore-wise, with the main ties being the original settlers leaving during the god wars, and Camorra Shayzien being the same Camorra you see a handful of statues around near characters like Arrav.

There's a few smaller things, like My Arm finally getting himself a GF, the Wise Old Man having a few more adventures before his retirement, and the Elder Gnome Child ascending to his One True Form, lording over all us puny mortals. Praise be.

Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.
