Azzanadra is disappointed that you... oh, wait, wrong topic... :P
Joke apart, no offense, but newsflash, Azzanadra actually is less reasonable at times than Kharshai. Mostly when Zaros is involved. It's easy for Kharshai to be more reasonable as he managed not to follow any god, that's a huge advantage on his part. But I might even risk saying that even Wahisietel can be more reasonable than Azzanadra. But I don't think that's a good reason to dislike either, they don't make Azzanadra any less. You just have to deal with that Azzanadra isn't perfect either. ;)
On topic, my "vote" for a starting point goes to Azzanadra and the Senntisten temple too, simply makes more sense. But I think the quest has space to be about the fate of the Mahjarrat as well in some way, especially if it's really going to involve Mah and Freneskae, and in that case, Kharshai is a mandatory character in it.

He claims violence is foolish just shortly after laughing about melting some guys face off for laughing.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

One does not simply gloat at the predicament of a Mahjarrat. :P
While I see your point, I think it should be taken into count that in the mentioned case, the guy pretty much asked for it. Although true, Azzanadra could have punished him in a less drastic way, but as I've said, Azzanadra can be unreasonable sometimes. Hurting his pride is also a factor for that. (But I think that's not just Azzanadra, but pretty much all the Mahjarrat in general.)

Just throwing out a wild theory here.

Could it be that we for some reason must travel to Infernius or some other world apart from Freneskae either during or post-FOTG2?

I would find that highly unlikely.

He doesn't like being interrupted either. When talking about Wen and saying "Wen must be under both mountains!", the disappointment bell tolls.

Well, at least we got away with our faces still on our head, so I guess it's still not that bad. ;)

As if you wouldn't do the exact same thing if given a chance, Hazeel. :P

I have to agree with Den, I don't see a trip to anywhere but Freneskae (maybe Tarddiad IF Seren is involved) happening in this quest.

Though for Infernus, I suspect Zamorak will have us going there soon enough.

I very much doubt that's canon. I had a different post elsewhere where I explained my reasons

and yes, where zaros is concerned, azzanadra is completely unreasonable

edit: I can't find it back. My idea though is that the guy whose face was melted off seems more like a player character than an npc. Not many npcs would make fun of a 'powerful demon' to its face... that's something players do because they think they're immune
The thing also doesn't fit that well with azzy's personality... everything you know about him shows him to be someone who is effective in combat but that doesn't take delight in killing people
