So, R S Chronicle recently revealed that their two newest 'legends' will be Mor*ran and Vanescula. Specifically, because they are legendary figures in Runescape's story, "well known to the community and, irrespective of whether they’re good or evil, someone the community are fond of."
Now, these two characters are fine. I totally dig 'em. But
legends
? Hardly.
I was curious, what is the lore community's opinion on this? Who are the npc* that best encapsulate Runescape, that are instantly identifiable even outside of the game? Legends already in Chronicle include
-Raptor
-Linza
-Ariane
-Ozan
For me, the
only
character out of RS that can truly stand as an icon of the game is Dionysius. For most of the game's history, the Wise Old Man has been the only living figure of legend, one of the only other people ever known to take the path of the adventurer. Plus, he was kinda silly, and adding the blue phat only helped matters.
Next runner-up is definitely Zanik. Easily the game's best-written character, and the adventurer's best friend. While not as instantly recognizable as the WOM, she's made a big impact on everyone who's played through the Dorgeshuun series.
So, who are your choices? Here are the restrictions:
-must be a character that exists
in game
. No '
Gar'rth
' or '
Paul Gower
' answers.
-must be a character that is alive/was recently alive (basically, if we've seen them alive in the present day in a quest, see them alive in the world, or could see them alive in the world before March 2013, they're fair game. Hazelmere=0k, Robert the Strong=not ok)
-mortals only,
NO GODS ALLOWED

Isn't this specific to Chronicle, the card game? Pretty sure it has no actual effect on lore.

I'm asking who you think the most iconic characters in Runescape are. Maybe I'm not discussing the intricacies of portal dynamics, but no one seems to bat an eye at all the other poll-type 'whatsyerfave' threads on this forum. I'm asking the lore forums cos I don't want a buncha lunkheads saying Vorago or Zaros.
Chronicle's just my jumping-off point.
Hey, these are the folks Jagex thinks are the most iconic, who are the folks that are REALLY most iconic.

I gotcha, apologies for misinterpretation.
To be honest, I get Mor*ran's inclusion; as a slayer master, he gets a
lot
of player interaction. Vanescula's a little weirder... she's been featured in 2-3 quests and her role has always extremely enigmatic. I mean, if they really wanted a vampyre legend, then I guess she's the best option, but why not Safalaan or something?
Anyway, extremely iconic characters:
Sliske
Harold
Arrav
Hazelmere
The drunken dwarf
And yeah, definitely Dionysius.

Blue Dragons.
