BRASSICA PRIME!

Well, to be fair, this is true.

But he didn't do much to help or protect us did he :P He was to busy enjoying the feeling of the cushion on his leaves.
Love the Lore and the RS Gods!

NEW EDIT: Hopefully we will get some new exciting Icthlarin lore very soon! He is going to appear in the Halloween event this month battling his sister Amascut! After that Icthlarin will likely be appearing in at least two quests in 2016 for Sliske's countdown!

Feel free to discuss any new Icthlarin Lore in this thread

Yes I am looking forward to see what Icthlarin has to say for himself in the event, I hope he will comment on events since MPD like Bandos death etc

I want to know more about Amascut! What actually drove her insane on Freneskae? I know the event does not want to mess with desert quests but I hope we get to learn a bit more about her during the Halloween event.

Not tried the Halloween event yet, I heard there was some good new lore?

Apparently Icthlarin and Amascut were put in charge of the Underworld and reincarnation as a punishment from Tumeken because they somehow disappointed him.

Ictlarin in feels responsible for his sister's madness. He deeply cares for his sister and wants to bring her back from her insanity. Now, he is also resposible in reincarnating 'special' souls.

Before her descent to madness, Amascut was responsible for destroying all evil souls and her high priestess believes this might be one of the reasons why she becomes mad. Her breaking point was when she witnessed her own father, Tumeken, sacrificed himself to save the Khairidian land. She saw herself as a failure and unworthy. She believed her father will never forgive her for what both Ic****in and herself did in the past.

Ka, who was one of Amascut's priestess, said something must have happened during the time when Amascut and her brother went to Freneskae. She said, after the event, something about her changed but her father's demise made it worst for Amascut.

After a Skype call with Kanarthasis, he broought up a few good points on the info revealed in this event. I wonder if Icthlarin and Amascut are like Eluned in that they're manifestations of anima rather than actual people. They certainly grew up like people, but were they meant to be?

Maybe Tumeken's plan all along was for them to be in charge of the underworld, punishment or not. After all, I can't quite see what race the desert gods are from, or if they're from a race at all. Are they like Vorago in that they're tied to Gielinor? Icthlarin himself is pretty much essential, as was Amascut as the goddess of reincarnation, they weren't born from Elidnis like we may expect, but rather created. And the reason they're so weak is because their power is very limited to the jobs they were meant to do, almost like robots in a way.

Saradomin, Zamorak, and Armadyl all have their own philosophies, but Icthlarin has no time to bother with anything about that, because unlike them, he's not trying to run society, he's essentially a natural force that helps the souls of the planet cycle through the process of death and reincarnation.

Which makes me wonder, if the Airut shamans were able to corrupt the anima mundi of Gielinor like they did with Mazcab and Yakamaru, would Icthlarin get corrupted too and turn against us along with Vorago?

Kanarthasis put this into words better than I did though, so you may want to ask him, credit to him for most of it :P
I will protect Gielinor. Zaros has no love for its people.

I've been hearing that the event supposedly has lorefails, but unsurprisingly, it's exactly the opposite of what people want to complain about. That sounds like they're trying to reconcile past lorefails, namely the idea of whether it was the trip to Freneskae that drove Amascut insane, or if it was during the Fourth Age. Now it sounds like a long process deriving from a variety of factors.

When it comes to the desert gods, we don't really know much about Tumeken or Elidinis, but we know quite a bit about the rest. We know Apmekan was a monkey, Crondis was a crocodile, Het was human, and Scabaras was a scarab.

Then we come to Icthlarin and Amascut. I disagree with your assertion/assumption that they are essential to the function of the word. For one, they world was able to function quite well without them until the second age. For two, reincarnation and safe passage to the afterlife are not really necessary: reincarnation since we don't need old souls to make new life, and safe passage is only really needed now since Amascut is assaulting souls on their way to the afterlife. What they are is frankly their biggest mystery since they are supposedly children of gods (a concept otherwise unheard of).

The unnecessary nature of their new jobs is likely why Tumeken used it as a punishment: it didn't need to be done, but it would keep them occupied and out of his hair anyway.
