What I meant is that the SoJ created the rune essence in the first place, right? So we (As in anyone), could use the SoJ to repair the altars. Unless I'm wrong about the altars being made of rune essence, it should be able to work. We would just need to get our hands on the Stone.

True, but i don't think we will able to get it. but oddly the rune essence, or imbued runes act like a tiny SoJ. Both are focus and amplification of our power (SOJ is for all of them), Both can be imprinted with memories ( recall the "runes memories quest", and the "stone heart" quest) and in the latter quest the memories of elder gods where imprinted in a coded library with impressions rather than words- some of them even resembled the patterns on the SOJ. Wizard Elriss is also tracking the SoJ using the the runecrafting altar- so clearly there is some link there. but id wager repairing the altar with rune ess ( mentioned by an elder gods Kra that we have the elder god's energy in tiny stones ( rune ess/ imbued runes)would be more likely than lugging around an Elder god artifact (aside from the measure).

SoJ would be the easy way to restaurant the altar- but i highly doubt we will be allowed to wield it- odds are we will remain a stonetoucher....we don't want those pesky dragonkin, raging against us, being a false-user would we?

This is brilliant !

I'll be looking out for red orbs then. You've postulated their existence, now we need confirmation. Just like Murray Gell-Mann postulated the existence of quarks, and someone built a machine that found them; and just like Peter Higgs postulated the existence of Higgs bosons, and then someone built an even bigger machine that found them.

Also, some observations about runic energy that need accounting for by a unified theory:

1) What explains the peculiar manifestations of runic energy in Runespan? They have strange shapes and are not like other orbs.

2) What on Earth Runespan are the essling creatures?

3) In Runespan, there occasionally spawns one of these things called ''Runesphere'', and when the ess around it has been siphoned away, a pure runic energy orb is left. This pure runic energy orb is
white
, meaning that all colours are present in one orb. Is this carefwly balanced so that complementary colours don't annihilate each other?

Keep on researching ! The wizards at the guild and the training arena are hopeless researchers. Just look at their attitude, no scientific humility at all.

Elriss is keeping her ideas secret, Wizard Edvin can't even speak coherently, Wizard Dougal is paranoid about folks ''stealing his ideas'', and Achanta and Vief... They're hopelessly biased toward proving their own theories by bickering against the other theory... Not very scientific at all.

Yes, and obviously the orbs at the cores of the altars. There are 16 yellow and 16 green orbs inside the Air, Mind, Water, Earth, Fire and Body altar, but not in Astral -- and I think not in the other altars, but I'm not sure. You can test it with an Oculus Orb.

I did not know about the yellow King Orbs. 0o

I did not know that, ill check it out next time im in a gop round (i would assume its in a Gop round right? How did you find that out, angle and everything please- i want to replicate that.

For your first two questions, i have no idea- i would have to postulate a runecrafting pocket dimension interaction between the abyss ( that i call the creepy back door), the altar and the runespan. I have yet to find what could be the lore-wise explanation for the runespan in that equation- maybe the source of runic energy...not entirely sure.

As for your third question, according to the theory of colors, white is indeed the presence of all colors into one, and it would have to be balanced since any increase on one would make it a different tint*- but distinctively not white.

* tint, grade, shade and hues are all painters term for altering colors

thanks for the runespan input, ill consider it when formulating a wider theory-ill make sure to cite you (hopefully by then your vegan hardcore ironman account will still be alive)

D: Imagine the size of machine we'll need for this one.. if this trend continues, soon the machines will need to be bigger than we have matter to study. We'd better decide which ideas we want to research, before the machine trend becomes untenable to new research! (joke, in case you hadn't guessed :p )

Runespan was stated to be surrounding Zanaris, in one of the Lore Q&A, recently, and Zanaris was described as a bit 'like a funnel'.

This may mean Elriss' Span theory about pockets, is incorrect.

If I remember correctly, she says the Guild is in a pocket, cased by the shadow of the Wizards' Tower (caused by the massive use of magic in a small area), if that were so, then the Span would be a very finite resource, as it couldn't contain more than a fraction of (the conserved/wasted/not used fraction) of the energy of all spells used there.. and therefore would only be a form of recycling a fraction of used energy, so not a good source of energy.. especially if the population of Wizards grows.

I think it likely that it is just the leakage of energy round the funnel, for what was used to create and maintain Gielinor, and it's altars, or a combination of the two.

The Spell wisps, are likely a similar energy leak, but one which is entirely of human-processed magic, therefore it coalesces into a more human/life-influenced cloud, which moves about, and reacts to stimuli.

Will come back and try to find quotes, when more than a few mins free.

Orbs are in all Gop-used altars, but not in not-Gop-used ones.

They are present in the main altar plan, and presumably also in the spare and requested-load-area ones, too.

(they are what I was refering to, by 'orbs inside the altar stone').

It's not very difficult. If you just take an Oculus Orb to the altars, you'll soon figure out how. If you add me as ''Timo Winter'' (which is the vegan HCIM account : p Timome is immortal) you can ask me if I'm online.
