As stated above WE now represent mortal and life, something Zaros claimed he wanted to do. But failed to even ascended to elder god. Lucky for us he didn't need to wake them all up, as we can see his plan to become elder god by waking them all up would have failed and threaten life itself, which proved my point that his methods are too risky and dangerous. So now we need to show why life is worth keeping.

He seemed pretty adamant in FotG about wanting to ascend before trying to wake and then negotiate with the elders as he believed they would only listen to another of their kind. Jas showing up then just gave him the opportunity to try asking. And then she rang the alarm bells to wake the others even faster, not Zaros.

She rang the bell to inform the other elders of our task, what we must do, and they all agree. That still doesn't excuse the fact that his plan and wanting to represent mortal would have failed.

Are you that sure? Seems to me that if he had confronted them after accomplishing something they deemed impossible that they'd both have reason to listen to him and have a very obvious demonstration of the value of mortal life (as it aided him in his ascension).

Either way, it's speculation at this point since we have yet to see if it is possible for Zaros to ascend and what the elders' reaction would be to that. Or, to put it in other words, just because the meeting we observed failed doesn't mean that it would have failed had he already ascended (what his plan was).
