Everyone here except Evil Dave is completely out of character. Was extremely jarring seeing myself claiming that I was "forced into cahoots with Zamorak against my will," given I've sided with Zamorak in every situation outside of Fate of the Gods. This isn't 5th age content, or even the continuation of a 5th age storyline; feel like those choices should at least be acknowledged in dialogue, if nowhere else.
You've already covered why Saradomin's actions were silly, but Zamorak's were as well. He's characterized by his cunning and resourcefulness, and yet here he squanders his one major advantage over Saradomin--surprise--in order to get into what was effectively a one-on-one slug-out with an objectively more powerful being. Even if you help him in Dishonor Among Thieves, he's still only back up to the level he was prior to the BoL; I can't imagine how silly this must have looked for anyone who didn't.
I'm also not sure if they forgot we had the ability to teleport into Zamorak's layer and speak with him, but apparently he doesn't have anything to say about any of this.
So is this entire quest just a non-canon joke (I'm aware that it's intended for comedy, but so are the pirate and penguin quests; they're still canon), or is something else going on?
A Zamorakian lorehound, probably.
