I think simply having jmods visit the lorums would spike activity a bit. They make updates, but I don't know that they're doing terribly well to talk to the community as they make those updates, at least not on the forums. Maybe there's some discord conversation I've missed.
There's one major problem with that: JMods cannot use the forums outside of work, meaning that basically everything other than the official forums work better for the devs nowadays, since they can use them in an official capacity outside of work. Yes, Jmods have acknowledges that it isn't particularly logical that their official forum is the least useful site to communiticate with the fanbase, but I suppose there isn't much that can be done to alleviate the problem at hand.
And while it's true that it's not okay to allow only players with access to third party accounts to more effectively communicate with JMods, it's also unreasonable to force the developers to use a particular system to interact with players, when the majority of players reject that platform and use other platforms to discuss the game instead.
Mod Jack has said that the JMods followed the players to third-party platforms, not vice versa, and communication with players and JMods shot up once they started actually engaging properly on Twitter, Reddit and Discord. This is partly because the forums aren't very good for conversations between different people. One could argue that the only thing that the RSOF does better than the social media sites used most commonly nowadays are the sort of organised lore threads which gave birth to the Lore Forums in the first place.

Yeah, you could have a point there, sad as it seems. Certainly jmods could access the forums outside of work if they wanted to though, they would just need the password? Question mark? But you also made a good point that they followed us to these other sites, so I guess I should follow in suit. Nevertheless, I still think we could do with a little more activity on the forums. If they want it to happen, somehow it will happen.

Much sadness. First time I've been on in several months and doesn't appear that I've missed much at all.
Well, I did lock all of my own threads on the forums.
At this point, unless it is a Jmod generated thread, there isn't much point in even creating a post.
They have a huge backlog on dev projects, so .. really ... what's the point in us suggesting something "new"?
Especially when they'll pick their own projects and post requests for feedback there.
It's been nearly a year since anything lore related was added besides a few tidbits on Anachronia, and even THAT was borderline shelved because of who knows what excuse.
If Archaeology had been released on time, we would have at least had something new to discuss.
To be fair, better for the "skill" to not be broken on release (ala Invention) or to be half filled at 120 (ala Invention and Slayer).
It's sad when I'm not sure if I'm frustrated, bored, tired, or drained anymore.
I don't want to grind. I've maxed an account. The account is still like 13m xp away from finishing Farming, Herblore is 40m XP away. And Archaeology is due and I have the absolute terror of it being like the grind to do Menaphos quests on release.
I ... I just can't do it anymore.
Right now, the game isn't fun. Or at least it's not fun for me. I don't want to kill 10000 bosses, I don't want prestige items, I don't want 3rd rate cosmetics, and I don't want to have the reflexes of a teenager to flick my way thru a quest boss (because I don't have those reflexes).
I want story. I want ... something to bite into ...
Runescape just isn't that right now.
Dev time is long. Takes months to pop out a quest. And they've tripled down on the XXL content of stuff like skill updates.
I can't say I'm done.
But good god I'm sick of the state of the current game.

The saddest part of all, given the state of this forum, I doubt anyone is actually going to read that.
Take heart - I read it. Not that that means much, but there are still lorehounds about.

why did you lock all your posts delta?
The state of the Lore Forum
The lack of Lore related content in over a year
A number of my posts trended more towards "story" or "fan fic" rather than lore.
Some have been debunked
Most did not generate much discussion (which might go back to the first 2 points)
Other reasons
That's because years ago we used to get new lore almost bi-weekly. Now, we're lucky if we get it once a year and we regularly get useless quests like the new slime one.

Instead of shutting it down, they should quit catering to Reddit and Discord and actually use their official forums. I shouldn't have to use third-party sites to engage with a game's developers and community. Even if I liked Reddit and Discord (I don't, though Reddit is the worst of the two), I wouldn't want to have to go there to engage with the community and developers when there's a perfectly good forum here.
The death of forums and rise of social media has been one of the greatest tragedies in the history of the internet. Aside from personal preferences, social media has a large chunk of responsibility for our society turning into the cesspool that it is these days.
