So as you said Xau-Tak is based on Cthulhu from Lovecraft 's novels. I just googled it and it seems a lot of Lovecraft's stuff are incorporated in games and other media so I wonder if you read the novels?
Majority of Lovecraft's own work was in the form of short fiction (novellas and short stories), not novels.

They're in the public domain, so you should have no trouble locating them online, assuming you're interested.

Yeah I meant novellas not novels :P
Thanks for the heads up but are they good? Or too old to appeal to this generation?

Hm... I'd guess that Lovecraft's style wouldn't go over too well with modern readers, but I'm not sure. It's very wordy, but not old enough to be unreadably rigid.

I think Lovecraft is tremendously fun, of course.

I think at the very least you should read Call of Cthulhu. It will introduce you to his work should you wish to read more of it, but it's also good as a standoff since its famous and Xau-Tak borrows heavily from it.
I'm too Unaligned to have a forum signature.

I will keep that in mind thanks for the recommendation.

So we're all aware that the cold spot isn't a coloration to Xau-Tak right?

Unless his follower is in human form and beat Nomad in under 14 minutes that is, while that's impressive it's hardly subtle.

You know how Xau-Tak is based on H.P. Lovecraft's writing, right? What if it's a grand ruse and he's not actually a Cthulhu boy, but actually... Herbert West - Reanimator !

The Gustaf Johansson from the Glory of Zaros is actually a red herring and XT is a necromancer who's using piracy to reanimate dead people and uh, this was a much better theory before I typed it down. :(

I hope it's not just the tentacle bat man, because that's extremely overdone. Jas was a great example of otherworldliness and I hope they don't try to replicate that with QoA or XT.

Cold spot is more likely to be related to Oreb than it is Xau-Tak. Xau-Tak doesn't seem to be too interested in creating ghosts, it's more interested in the physical bodies.

Xau-Tak isn't just a carbon copy of Cthulhu, I imagine it takes inspiration from much of Lovecraft & Co's works. I wouldn't be surprised if some Xau-Tak related stuff does take some elements from Reanimator. I mean, we already have Mi-Gor and co in The Great Brain Robbery...

So, just throwing this out there, what if Xau-Tak completely ignored many of the established rules of the RuneScape universe? What if Xau-Tak simply did not make sense in the eyes of "science", and was capable of many seemingly impossible feats?

I'm talking about "creation of life" level stuff here. Stuff that's firmly established as impossible and fundamentally wrong , but Xau-Tak is inexplicably capable of it anyway.

Isn't that a given? Pretty sure Wilson mentioned the phrase "reality-warping" or something to that effect.
