I got it too, gear was sup death lotus armor and mh dart, tainted repriser, sixth-age circuit, sign of life, glory. Only using grotesque wings t1.

Killed Zanik in mighty fall, didn't let Nomad take a piece of soj in dishonor among thieves.

I bet it was because of the grotesque. Xau-Tak is probably a Slayer god so he sends you a message if you're wearing his Slayer overrides. Original message details are unavailable.

I do quests with minimal items (because I'm expecting to die at any moment) and without overrides (as I feel it helps with immersion). So I didn't have Grotesque armour on, though I do have it unlocked. Still though, having an item/unlock from a temporary micro-transition being the deciding factor in some telling dialogue seems incredibly... bad.

Anyway, I had a Chaotic staff and Dragonrider amulet equipped, with a supreme overload, super prayer potion, fire/air runes, and leftover sharks in my inventory.

...I think the dialogue appears to those who've completed a Clockwork Syringe. I mean it's basically all but confirmed that the pirate series is related to Xau-Tak. I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't know, could also be clearing away the Grotesque.

It actually wouldn't be the first time a micro-transaction caused changes in dialog. I'm pretty sure if you wear the fake elf gear from the loyalty program caused the priff guards to have unique dialog.

That being said, I don't think it played a part here.

At this point I'm fairly sure it's either completely random or linked to having a specific number of cave goblins alive. You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

Goblins, nope.

Random? Maybe, But what'd be the point?

Likely requires a relevant quest to be completed.

Is there anyone with a quest cape that didn't get the dialogue?

I didn't get the dialogue, and the only quests I haven't done are The Lord of Vampyrium, Birthright of the Dwarves, The Brink of Extinction, Plague's End, The Light Within and Nomad's Elegy.
If it is triggered by doing certain quests, it has to be one of those (with the Exception of Nomad's Elegy of course), or possibly certain choices made during any other quest.

Now that I think about it, there is one thing related to the pirate questline I haven't done yet: Getting the Ex-ex-parrot. I doubt that is what triggers it, but it might be worth keeping in mind anyway.

I think he is the god of Undeath, based on what happened in the latest quest. Updates are hard to make, especially when it's a solo project, so raging against the mod will get you nothing.
