I highly doubt Zarosians are contrived solely of those who desire power and control from Zaros.

We always tell people in the FC that if you're following Zaros for power, you're following the wrong god and the god who's least likely to give you power.

Guthix was the protector of the world, know what he did in his final moments? Gave up.

As seen during The third age and now the sixth, the world needs an all seeing protector which is what Zaros is offering, not a god ruling from a throne, the likes of Zamorak or Saradomin. An all seeing protector that won't make rash and reckless decisions based on mortal emotions or biases. He knows full well the world guardian's power and knows full well that the world guardian could betray him at any time for the sake of power, so why empower that which could betray you.

People following Zimzams are after power, a god that obtained his power through backstabbing and underhanded techniques, a god who would burn down your house and kill your friends and family just because it makes you 'stronger', a god who leveled a continent as a "If I'm going down, I'm taking you all with me" approach. If there's a god who'll throw you under a bus the first chance he gets, it'll be Zimzams. Also, he's not still fight. He's the type of person who regularly slips himself 100s and 500s while playing monopoly and won't play my the rules, as seen with his soon to come stone heist where he's trying to cheat the system. Thief, traitor, cheater, and reckless maniac

Your rant at Zamorak is pretty funny considering Zaros conforms to the majority of that. Lets see, backstabber? Check. Underhand tachnigues? Check, kill friends and family so future empire will be stronger? Check. Cheating, not playing by the rules? SO Zaros always is fair? No, cheater, check.

You can't, in all honesty, tell me that Zaros's number of player followers would be anywhere near the same as they are now if ancient magicks and curses did not exist.

Relevance? Because I was talking about the power he bestowed upon the player and not the power of the god himself.

This presents more problems than you realize with perhaps the biggest one being transparency. With a god "ruling from a throne", you know what that god's policies, ethics, and intentions are. To that end any misaction can be appealed as can be the same for any edict you disagree with or feel is too harsh. At the very least, you can see the edict from the god's perspective. With this approach Zaros wants to take, though, there is no such transparency or understanding. With this approach, the only way is Zaros's way and there is no way to change or understand that. In this sort of world, such ideas as justice and fairness are but fairy tales.

I'd say something about this being a bad thing as well, but I think Nerevarine X does a better job of that here.

And yet we still have ancient magicks and curses (the latter of which we are lead to believe come DIRECTLY FROM HIM). Strange that.

Funny, I could have sworn I saw somewhere that Zaros is just as -if not more- likely to do the same thing.

Oh yeah, here it is:

Original message details are unavailable.
Zaros would have sacrificed his entire empire before putting himself in danger.

Mod Jack then clarified that in his opinion all the gods would commit similar acts for various reasons, Zimzams and Smurfledoughmandore included.

You're asking me to put in the effort to actually cite my sources!? How dare you, sir! I'll have to search around a bit, will edit in a minute or three after I find it.

Edit: Success~!!
Original message details are unavailable.
IMO:

Zamorak: Would sacrifice the entire universe for his own benefit.

Bandos: Would sacrifice quite literally anything for his own benefit and be glad about it.

Saradomin: After a great deal of soul-searching and excuse making, would sacrifice a great deal (including the lives of his followers) for his own benefit and then feel really bad about it.

Armadyl: Might sacrifice himself for his followers - but suspiciously has failed to do so thus far.

Seren: Would sacrifice herself for her followers, probably.

Brassica Prime: Just wants to watch the world burn.

FDR & Churchill: Generally credited with stopping ******, not known for their personal courage in battle.
Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.

Julienne makes Saradomin look like a wannabe-Zaros. Just saying.
"He will watch over us..." Fate anyone?
"He is first among the gods." Zaros alone was never mortal...

Also worth pointing out that Saradomin's behavior in Missing, Presumed Death contradicts some of the JMod quotes.

"'Nelfarion @AZAlliance1 29 Dec
@JagexStu does Saradomin view himself above everyone else?'

'Mod Stu @JagexStu 29 Dec
@AZAlliance1 Not necessarily above. Is the town sheriff superior to its citizens? He has a duty to uphold the law & keep the varmints out'"

Saradomin: "I am the ONE true god." (Which puts Armadyl, Seren and Zaros--all protectors--out of the picture)

as much as I love saying
The One True God
, the actual quote is

Saradomin:
Arrogance? I strive to guarantee the safety of all who call Gielinor home, as a true god should.
Saradomin: Only I can stand as the true god!
"Your god's dead next time he's in a world event. "

There is a Nicolas Cage subreddit called One True God, maybe you're getting Saradomin and Nicolas Cage mixed up.
