Maybe Sir Tiffy has been using a cosmetic override all this time and armour is actually black?
Machiavellian...yes. If he was trying to get the Kinshra back into the old power sharing system that was there before then his actions would make perfect sense. Give the Saradominist enough rope to hang themselves and all the while search for the letter and sword of Radalin. As well as the Banner. Finding those would make it a checkmate move for such a Machiavellian spy master, and no one would see it coming! The purpose of adventure is to shine light into dark places,
