I'm not so sure that it would make a big move in/out of Morytania less likely. King Roald was keen was keen enough to invade Morytania before Saradomin arrived, upon hearing of the suffering of humans there. Just think how much more concerned Saradomin is about them, especially since he's about to gain power that could potentially topple Drakan's regime.

Like it or not, the god wars are back, and Morytania is bound to be touched by them. We can't help that. My fear now is that with Vampyre society fracturing, Drakan being 'isolated', the return of the Icyene (or have they?) and the rise of Saradomin, that the Myreque, far from facing an unstoppable force like they have so far, will find the rest of their campaign to be rather light.

In short, I'm afraid that current events will kill the drama of the Myreque series.

'Actually, that boss did use EoC tactics-you can see her doing an animation or two if you look closely. The problem was (and is) that since her regular attacks didn't scale (only her lp and special attack) us high level players don't get to see much. Try it with a low level account (I wonder how many rs players don't have one of those lying around) and you'll probably be much more impressed with the combat.'
-------
What I meant by using EoC tactics was....actually using things like thresholds and ultimates instead of just basics (if that) and whatever boss specific special move they gave the fight. Though I could be wrong in that regard since as you said, higher levels wouldn't notice much (and for the record, I'm nearly maxed in main combat stats as it is so go figure >_< ).

I might see if my low level account is still active and try it and get back to you on that when I get the chance.

I see what you're saying, but part of me's still hoping that Drakan has an ace up his sleeve that we haven't figured out yet. I mean, the guy's pretty much a legendary monster with a hint of some kind of militaristic genius in his reputation, so surely he might have spent the past few centuries preparing for the eventuality that the gods might be back someday, right?

Though, the drama could turn into something else. If Drakan falls, who's to say that the Icyene and Saradomin will treat the area any better than the vampyres? Sure the blood drinking will be gone but at what price?

A side note, But to be honest, this thread will be kinda sad (or as sad as inanimate objects can get) when the Meryque finale comes out, for there will be no more speculation (unless we leap into a different yet related topic).

I feel whenever I ask for the next quest to come out, I'm really asking for them to come just a bit closer to killing this beautiful thread.

Yeah, that's something I wonder about at times. I mean, this thread's been going on for...what...3-4 years or so by now (Give or take)? It would be a shame to have things come to an end after such a long run, but nothing lasts forever. Even Vampyres. :(

Or maybe the Myreque series will end and we'll still have Vampyre-related stuff to talk about. The race has potential to fit in with non-myreque storylines so it's still possible if Ana sets it up right. O_o

Assuming the Myreque doesn't get finale'd the thread will be around for a good long time to come...

Unless of course you all disappear with the rest of the sea of flame after Wednesday. Hate to bring the subject to the thread but I'm interested in how many of you are still around, I saw that Moe is gone now and I immediately wondered how much of the lore community is going to have gone the same way. We're an overly principled bunch.

On a sidenote, I like how we don't have to put up with the ragestorms every other update like we saw in the FU forums. It seems nice and cosy in here.

It appears I may be mistaken since I've just taken another look, he's no longer an fmod but I think he *might* be sticking around a little longer. I've definitely seen a fair few familiar faces about the bonds forums with varying degrees of fire pouring from every orifice who may well be gone for good now.

In all honesty, it would take something HUGE to get me to leave by now. I've seen worse microtransaction situations in MMOs, so what happened on Wednesday just didn't really make me mad considering I've seen games that outright penalize you for not paying out money for random shiny crap.

Though, I haven't been around as much lately simply because I'm working towards a 4 year degree and ended up in a program that's extremely challenging for me to work through because of different/personal reasons. Time intensive (and ultra strict) finance/business homework sucks like that :(

"Death - the Grim Reaper - has gone missing, and Icthlarin - God of the Underworld - is attempting to fill the void he's left behind. At any other time, Icthlarin might have managed, but there has been a massacre in the hills near Paterdomus Temple, east of Varrock. Icthlarin cannot hope to keep up, and the spirits of the dead remain tethered to their corpses."
------
A lot of deaths near Paterdomus Temple eh? Who wants to bet that we might be seeing a bit of werewolf activity around the area during the quest?
