I was more concerned about how their personality changed all of a sudden. Veliaf was more timid and afraid than usual. Granted, the situation had grown dire, but Veliaf had until that point kept a stiff upper lip despite the deaths of his comrades and was even able to display some panache' when fighting during M2. You could say that he showed the classic traits of a British Army Officer!
Safalaan's change is much more understandible and seems to be an integral part of the storyline so far. However, Safalaan's lost his eccentric sense of fashion and use of language. The old Safalaan wore a distinctive purple 'suit' and described our arrival at the Castle walls as 'just the tonic'. Now he looks like any other character in RuneScape...
In short, there is a danger that characters like Veliaf and Safalaan are losing their distinctive personalities as the series' drama heightens in intensity. However, personally, I trust that Mod Ana has a good plan for Safalaan. Also, the fact that the most of the other characters (including Veliaf) have barely been developed in any of the quests so far means that there is plenty of scope for them to blossom.
